For subsequent screens, you’ll press the Next button to advance. 2 Type your first and last names. Use the keyboard to type your First name, then rotate the wheel to highlight the Last name field. Type your last name, then scroll to highlight the Next button, then press the wheel to advance to the next screen. 8 Registration II. 3 Select a username. The username you select will be the first part of your email address (for example, [email protected]). Before your select a username, read the following guidelines: n Usernames must start with an alphabetic character (A-Z), but can include numbers and underscores ( _ ), but no other punctuation. n Usernames must be at least 2 but no more than 32 characters in length. n Usernames are not case-sensitive. Once you decide on a username, type it on the screen: 4 Select a password. Select a password that follows the rules below: n Passwords must contain at least six characters, can include both letters and numbers but no spaces. n Passwords are case-sensitive. For example, if you set your password to be “Hard2Guess”, then you will not be authenticated if you sign in by typing “hard2guess”. After you type your password, type it again to confirm. Operational Description

Danger Hiptop Operational Description 7 February 2002 The Danger Hiptop is a PDA-like device which comprises • a GSM-1900 cell phone • web browser based on GPRS (class 8, class B) • e-mail application • instant messenger application • SMS application • various personal information management (PIM) tools It has a built-in, non-removable lithium ion battery. The nominal voltage is 4.2V, and the battery supplies 1350mA. Hardware accessories include • battery charger • camera • hands-free kit • USB cable The Hiptop is initially configured in a powered-down shipping mode. In this mode, the battery charger must be connected in order to power up the device. Once the device begins booting, the battery charger can be removed. The run time depends heavily on the usage mode of the Hiptop. In the worst case, in which the Hiptop is in a call at full transmit power (30dBm), a run time of at least three hours can be expected. Note that the Hiptop will not run properly if the battery is fully discharged, even if the battery charger is connected. In order to be used, the Hiptop needs a SIM. This is inserted in the left side of the unit. The gray plastic piece which covers the slot needs to be removed, which exposes the SIM slot. If a SIM is inserted while the Hiptop is on, the unit should be rebooted. The unit can be rebooted by pressing and holding the “@”, “1”, and “0” keys. They should be depressed in that order, in rapid succession. It may take some practice to get this right! The unit can also be rebooted by inserting an object such as a straightened-out paper clip into the small hole labeled “RESET”. This hole is above the keyboard, and accessible only if the display is held in a 45-degree position. In order to place a call, the “Telephone” application should be selected in the main menu (the so- called “Chooser”). A telephone number can be entered using the keyboard, and the number can be dialed either by pressing the scroll wheel on the right, or the “enter” key. The call can be terminated by highlighting the “End call” button with the scroll wheel and then pressing the scroll wheel or the “enter” key. The unit will sleep after being idle for a certain number of minutes. In order to get the unit out of this mode, the display can be turned 180 degrees, or any key on the keyboard can be pressed. The unit can be put in the powered-down shipping mode by pressing and holding the “SYM” key on the left side of the keyboard for four seconds, and then releasing it.

MEANS FOR DETERMINING AND STABILIZING FREQUENCY, SUPPRESSION OF SPURIOUS RADIATION, LIMITING MODULATION, AND LIMITING POWER As required by § 2.1033(c)(10), this exhibit details the methods employed to determine and stabilize frequency, suppress spurious radiation and to limit both modulation and power Means for Determining and Stabilizing Frequency No absolute frequency stability requirements are levied against broadband PCS equipment operating under the authority of Part 24, Subpart J. However, per § 24.235, the frequency stability of the equipment shall be sufficient to ensure that the fundamental emission stays within the authorized frequency block. Specifically, this is accomplished as follows: The transmit RF carrier of the Core Engine is generated by a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) which is phase locked to a 13 MHz master reference source. This 13 MHz source is synchronized to the GSM network and, within the Core Engine, is controlled by an 11 bit DAC to keep the carrier to within ±0.1 ppm of the network reference. Measurements of the stability of the fundamental emission of the Core Engine over variations in temperature and input voltage are presented in the test report. As a GSM-compliant terminal, the stability of the Core Engine carrier is to be within ±0.1 ppm (±200 Hz in 2000 MHz) of the nominal value, in accordance with GSM performance requirements (see J-STD- 007, Personal Communications Services, Air Interface Specification; Volume 1, Radio Path Physical Layer, Section 7.4.1). Means for Suppression of Spurious Radiation Suppression of spurious and harmonic radiation in the Core Engine is ensured through good engineering practices and proper transmitter design, lay-out, and construction. 1. Transmitter Architecture and Design Frequency plan of the transmitter— local oscillator frequencies were selected to minimize spurious products. Use of an upconversion loop architecture to minimize spurious and noise power level in the PCS1900 receive band (1930-1990 MHz). Lowpass filtering within and prior to the T/R switch to further reduce harmonics. 2. Physical Realization of the Core Engine Fully shielded GSM radio module construction with filtering on all signal (data, control, clock) and power supply leads. Localized shielding over the GSM radio and digital/baseband sections. Careful component placement and layout, multi-layer circuit board construction, microstrip signal routing, and construction techniques to eliminate cavity moding and resonances. Means for Limiting Modulation Per GSM specifications, the modulation scheme implemented by the Core Engine is Gaussian MSK (GMSK), with a bandwidth- time product of BT = 0.3. Modulation rate is 1625/6 kbps, or approximately 280.83 kbps. To minimize spreading of the spectrum, GSM standards require that the RF output spectrum meet the mask shown in Figure E6.1. In the Core Engine, modulation accuracy is maintained through the use of direct digital synthesis techniques. Figure E6.1. GSM terminal modulation mask. Means for Limiting Power As a GSM-compliant terminal, the Core Engine is capable of transmitting at any of the 16 defined nominal RF output power levels, ranging from 30.0 dBm to 0.0 dBm, during its assignedTDMA frame. Core Engine transmitter operation (output power level) is controlled by the GSM network, and specifically by the base station to which the Core Engine is attached. Maximum RF output power of the Core Engine is set at the factory and cannot be altered or increased. Furthermore, the temporal variation in power level within each transmission (i.e., transmission burst time mask) is in accordance with GSM requirements. This is accomplished by adjusting transmitter gain through a discrete time power control loop and ramping the transmitter on and off at the beginning and ending of each burst. The power control loop is implemented using an open loop technique proven to have little effect on output power versus temperature. Maximum RF power is adjusted to within the specified tolerance during each burst, at the output power level specified by the base station.
