FCC ID: P9J-BF4P9 IC: 4751A-BF4P9 To whom it may concern, Tropos Networks is submitting certification applications for a dual band radio module to be used by municipalities in metropolitan mesh networks. Operating Frequency FCC Rule Part Industry Canada RSS 2412-2462 MHz 15.247 RSS-210, RSS-Gen 4945-4985 MHz 90Y RSS-111, RSS-Gen The product uses the same 802.11abg radio modules used in a previously certificated Tropos radio module: FCC ID: P9J-BFD Date of Grant: 8/03/2006 Frequency Range and output power: 2412-2462 MHz 0.719 watt 5745-5825 MHz 0.484 watt The new product uses the 2.4GHz radio without any alteration. The new product uses software to tune the 5GHz radio to the 4.9 GHz Public Service Band frequencies. The band pass filters are tuned to accommodate the 4.9 GHz frequencies. There are no other changes to the radio circuitry. The 2.4 GHz radio for the new product will use the same antennas as those used for the previously certified 802.11abg product. Because the 2.4 GHz radio is unchanged from the already certified product, 2.4GHz data for FCC ID: P9J-BFD will be submitted as exhibits for the new 2.4/4.9 GHz radio under consideration. Prior to testing, Tropos submitted inquiries to the FCC’s Knowledge Data Base (KDB) and confirmed that the strategy of using previously obtained data was acceptable for this case, and that limited modular approval procedures for unlicensed Part 15 devices are applicable to the Part 90 portion of the product as well. The KDB responses are submitted as separate exhibits in the application. If you have questions or need further information, please contact the undersigned. Sincerely, THOMAS N. Test Report

SUPPLEMENT TO RADIO CERTIFICATION TEST REPORT Applicant: Tropos Networks FCC ID: P9J-BF4P9 IC: 4751A-BF4P9 Product Description: Dual Band Wireless Router Operating Frequency Range: 2412-2462 MHz and 4945-4985 MHz TEST PROCEDURES The test procedures in TIA/EIA 603 were used for licensed radio emissions measurements. AC LINE CONDUCTED EMISSIONS Pre-testing on AC line conducted emissions revealed no discernable differences in the amplitude and nature of the AC line conducted emissions when compared to the previous filing under FCC ID PJ9-BFD, which uses the identical circuitry and radio modules, operating in the 2.4GHz and 5 GHz unlicensed bands. Pre-testing confirmed that tuning the 802.11a radio to 4.9 GHz instead of 5 GHz will have no effect on AC line conducted testing, therefore, the AC conducted emissions data for the previous filing is representative of, and applicable to, the present filing. OCCUPIED BANDWIDTH MEASUREMENTS In keeping with the requirements of RSS-Gen, occupied bandwidth measurements for the 2.4 GHz portion of the product were repeated using a sample detector, instead of the peak detector that was employed in the original filing. The test results are attached. T.N.
