802.11B 11Mbps Wireless PCMCIA Quick setup in Windows 98 Install Driver ! Insert the Wireless PCMCIA into the slot ! Windows98 automatically detects a new device added. ! Follow Windows 98 instructions to do the installation. Please use the driver provided on the Driver CD. Configure the Wireless PCMCIA There are two ways to do the configurations. One is to use the Utility software. The other is to use the Wireless PCMCIA property dialog. (1) Configuration via the Properties of the Wireless PCMCIA adapter: ! Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. ! Double click Network icon, point to the Wireless PCMCIA adapter, and then click Properties. ! IEEE 802.11 Properties dialog shows. User can use it to do the configuration like channel, SSID, transmit rate.. and so on. ! (2) Configuration via utility software: ! Find the setup.exe program in the Utility directory of the CD ! Execute Utility setup software. ! Once setup is complete, run the utility program by double-clicking the β€œConfiguration Utility” icon. ! An Utility icon will show at right corner on the screen. General Description LM-WU110 is a Wireless-to-USB product which provides a USB-to-wireless seamless connection. The Wireless interface is IEEE802.11b standard compatible. IC Solution The IC solution for LM-WU110 adopts Intersil PRISM II chip set: P/NFunctionalityDescription Atmel AT79C503 USB 11Mbps WLAN medium access controller AT76C503 is a single chip controller that provides all processing and functionality needed for the MAC protocol of wireless LANs. AT76C503 contains a USB Bus interface, a MAC control unit and a physical attachment interface(PAI). The PAI supports the new 5.5 and 11Mbps WLAN physical interfaces, and the IEEE 802.11 DSSS physical interfaces. Intersil HFA3861B Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Baseband processor HFA3861B Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) baseband processor is part of the PRISM 2.4GHz WLAN Chip set and contains all the functions necessary for a full or half duplex packet baseband transceiver. The HFA3861B has on-board A/D’s and D/A for analog I and Q inputs and outputs for HFA3783. Intersil HFA3783 I/Q Modulator/Demodulator and Sythesizer HFA3783 is a highly integrated and fully differential SiGe baseband converter for half duplex wireless application. It features all the necessary blocks for quadrature modulation and demodulation of β€œI” and β€œQ” baseband signals. Intersil HFA3683A 2.4GHz RF/IF Converter and Synhesizer HFA3683A is a monolithic SiGe half-duplex RF/IF transceiver designed to operate in the 2.4GHz ISM band. HFA39832.4GHz Power Amplifier and Detector HFA3983 is a 2.4GHz monolithic SiGe Power Amplifier designed to operate in the ISM Band. It delivers a 18dBm(Typ.) of an output power for the typical DSSS signal. The HFA3983 is housed in a 28 lead exposed paddle EPTSSOP package well suited for PCMCIA board applications. Operational Description

PD5LMWP100 89120401 Operational Description The transmitter of the EUT (Wireless LAN Card) is powered by host notebook and connected with notebook through PCMCIA slot. The antenna is printed on PCB and no antenna connector is used. Under normal use condition, the radiator of this device is at least 20 cm far away from the body of the user, and 5cm from the hands of the user. The transmitter output was connected to the spectrum analyzer through an attenuator. 2. The center frequency of the spectrum analyzer is set to the fundamental frequency and using 3 MHz RBW and 3 MHz VBW. 3. The span of the spectrum analyzer should be larger than 6dB BandWidth plus 10MHz. 4. Use Peak Search to read the peak power after Maximum Hold function is activated. 5. Shift the marker to +/- 3MHz and +/-6MHz, and record the reading. 6. The Maximum Peak Output Power is the linear summation of the 5 readings in (4) and (5). Note: This measurement is the total power of 15MHz bandwidth which is far more wider than 6dB bandwidth.
