This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: 1. This device may not cause harmful interference. 2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: (1) Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna, (2) Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver, (3) Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected, (4) Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. Wireless PCMCIA card iii Warning: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user authority to operate the equipment. CAUTION: This device is intended only for OEM integrators under the following conditions: 1. This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. In order to avoid the possibility of exceeding the FCC radio frequency exposure limits, human proximity to the antenna (installed to end product) shall not be less than 20 cm (8 inches) during normal operation. 2. This Transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter As long as the 2 conditions above are met, further transmitter testing will not be required. Howe ver, the OEM integrator is still responsible for testing their end-product for any additional compliance requirements required with this module installed (for example, digital device emission, PC peripheral requirements, etc.). Additional Information that Must be Provided to OEM Integrators: The end user should NOT be provided any instructions on how to remove or install the device. Wireless PCMCIA card iv IMPORTANT NOTE. 1) In the event that these conditions can not be met (for example certain laptop configurations or co-location with another transmitter), then the FCC authorization is no longer considered valid and the FCC ID can not be used on the final product. In these circumstances, the OEM integrator will be responsible for re-evaluating the end product (including the transmitter) and obtaining a separate FCC authorization. 2) To comply with FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, the antenna used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm from all persons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter." End Product Labeling This transmitter module is authorized only for use in devices where the antenna may be installed such that 20 cm may be maintained between the antenna and users (for example access points, routers, wireless ASDL modems, and similar equipment). The final end product must be labeled in a visible area with the following: "Contains TX FCC ID: PD5LMWP210RB Technical Support DELTA PRODUCTS CORPORATION 5105 Davis Dr. y P.O. Introduction The EUT operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band. The EUT (antenna included) is compliant with modular approval and the normal operation distance (after installing in other device, such as router or access point), 20cm from the human body; therefore, the EUT is defined as a Mobile Device. The EUT can be equipped with two kinds of antenna, the two combinations are listed as below: Type of EUT Definition in this report Single antenna LM-WP210RB (with antenna A) A set of two antennas LM-WP210RB (with antenna B) The reason to do the MPE Evaluation is to avoid the RF hazard to human body. The maximum output power and gain of the antenna were used to calculate the limited distance from the product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Notice in Installation Manual has been stated as below: While installing and operating this transmitter, the radio frequency exposure limit of 1mW/(cm*cm) may be exceeded at distances close to the transmitter, therefore, the user must maintain a minimum distance of 20 cm from the device at all time. Intertek Testing Services ETL SEMKO FCC ID. : PD5LMWP210RB Report No.: EME-021514 Page 5 of 7 2. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b). Limits for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (minutes) (A) Limits for Occupational / Control Exposures 30-300 61.4 0.163 1.0 6 300-1500 - - F/300 6 1500-100,000 - - 5 6 (B) Limits for General Population / Uncontrolled Exposure 30-300 27.5 0.073 0.2 30 300-1500 - - F/1500 30 1500-100,000 - - 1.0 30 F= Frequency in MHz Intertek Testing Services ETL SEMKO FCC ID. : PD5LMWP210RB Report No.: EME-021514 Page 6 of 7 3. RF Exposure calculations From FCC 1.1310 table 1, the maximum permissible RF exposure for an uncontrolled environment is 1mW/(cm*cm), where, (cm*cm) = square cm. The electric field generated for a 1mW/(cm*cm) exposure (S) is calculated as follows: S = E*E/Z where, S = Power density E = Electric field Z = Impedance so, 1mW/(cm*cm) = 10 W/(m*m) Z is 377 ohm of the impedance of free space, where E and H field are perpendicular. Thus the Electric field to produce a 1mW/(cm*cm) exposure is: E = (10 x 377) ½ = 61.4 V/m, which is equivalent to 1mW/(cm*cm) Test Condition: Single antenna Maximum conducted peak output power is 16.99 dBm and maximum antenna gain is 3 dBi. The maximum radiated output power resulted in 99.77 mW. Using the relationship between electric field E, effective radiated power in watts P, and distance in meters D, the corresponding distance D to produce a 1mW/(cm*cm) is calculated by the following expression: D = (P x 30) ½ /E = (99.77 x 10 x 30) ½ /61.4 = 2.817 cm where, P: maximum effective radiated power measured, 19.99 dBm (99.77 mW) E: electric field equivalent to 1mW/(cm*cm), 61.4 V/m The minimum distance by calculation and normal use distance were listed in the table as below: E.I.R.P. Calculated RF Exposure Allowable Minimum Separation Distance(cm) Normal Use Minimum RF Exposure Separation Distance(cm) dBm mW 19.99 99.77 2.817 20 The calculated Minimum allowable distance is very close to the antenna, and is far away from the normal use distance. The maximum radiated output power resulted in 86.896 mW.
