Operational Description

Confidential Page 1 1/29/2008 Bosch Global A Immobilizer Description of Operation: The Immobilizer Subsystem utilizes a Crypt Transponder within a Driver Identification Device to determine if a valid driver is attempting to start the vehicle. The determination of the Crypt Transponder within the Driver Identification Device is communicated by an interface between the Immobilizer Master (BCM) and the Immobilizer Antenna Module. The interface is a dedicated link based on the SAE J2602 LIN specifications. The LF communication between the Immobilizer and the Crypt Transponder is at 125kHz. The authentication takes place prior to the starting of the car, and lasts 100mS under ideal conditions, or up to 7 seconds under worst case conditions.
