American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 September 23, 2003 RE: FCC ID: PL6-WCS-MODEM1 Attention: John Grabner I have a few comments on this Application. 1. Please provide the units for power in the table on page 7 of the report. For example, you show 28.7 in one of the measurements. Is this dBm, Watts, Milliwatts? Please clearly identify the units of measurements. Please include a sample calculation including all appropriate transducers used.. 2. Please clearly identify the power reported. Part 27 device in this particular frequency range power is EIRP (see 27.50(a). Is the power shown in the report EIRP or conducted power? For EIRP please specify the manner in which EIRP measurements were taken. Please show your sample calculations for the method used including the substitution antenna factors. (Antenna substitution method of TIA603 is the FCC acceptable method). Please also note that Part 27 power measurements state that it is Peak EIRP power that is to be measured (see 27.50(a). 3. Please note that as the power for mobile part 27 devices is expressed in EIRP, radiated spurious emissions is also expressed in EIRP. Your table on page 126 of the report is in ERP. Please correct to be in line with the requirements of part 27 for EIRP values. 4. In the test details section 9 of the report under EIRP, please reference the proper TIA 603 document (your reference is TIS630 which is a different document) 5. Please note that your Spurious Emissions test method in section 9 of the report is incorrect. Spurious Emissions for Part 27 devices must be the same method used for Power. Since Power is measured in EIRP, spurious emissions are also measured in EIRP for Part 27 devices. Please correct your test methods used to reflect the proper limits in part 27. Dennis Ward mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued.
