4.3.6 SAR warning If the application is using an antenna which is less than 20cm away from the any part of the users body, integrators are legally obliged to publish SAR figures for the product. This testing would need to be carried out by the system integrator. The GM28 module is FCC approved for fixed and mobile applications. If the final product after integration is intended for portable use, a new application and FCC ID is required. Even if SAR measurements are not required it is considered good practice to insert a warning in any manual produced indicating it is a radio product and that care should be taken.

The groups of applications are the following: • Applications for provide data to a cellular network. The module is included in radio base stations to provide positioning information to users of the network. The module is integrated in the instruments of the station and the antenna is external (outside of the station enclosure). The application in this case is fixed. • Applications for remote sensing of events. The application automatically collects information from a process or the status of a machine. There are several subgroups: vending and dispensing machines, meters (for gas, electricity, water, etc.), alarms (fire, anti-theft, etc.). In all these cases there is no human intervention. The module is integrated in the machine and the antenna is external. The application in this case is fixed. • Applications for fleet control management. In this case, the module is on board of vehicles providing to the control station of the fleet information related to the vehicle: position, speed, etc. These applications might provide voice capabilities. In this case, the module is integrated in the instrument panel of the vehicle and the antenna is external (outside of the vehicle). The application in this case is fixed inside the vehicle taking into account the mobility of such vehicle. The module will be offered to integration companies and service providers different to Sony Ericsson. But there are some possible applications that could be integrated by Sony Ericsson. Jose A. We start at 1 m high with vertical receiving antenna and rotate the dish continuously. During rotation we use the antenna lift system to vary the high from 1 to 4 m. So we find maximum radiation output. At this points we do manual re-measurements. After this we do the same measurements in horizontal position of the receiving antenna. This (horizontal and vertical) is made for all the three planes of the test sample. We use the maximum received results. The detector function and selection of bandwidth are according ANSI C63.2-1996 item 8.2.1 and ANSI C63.4-1992 Item 4.2. Antennas are conform with ANSI C63.2-1996 item 15. 150 kHz - 30 MHz: Quasi Peak measurement, 9kHz Bandwidth, passive loop antenna. 30 MHz - 200 MHz: Quasi Peak measurement, 120KHz Bandwidth, biconical antenna 200MHz - 1GHz: Quasi Peak measurement, 120KHz Bandwidth, log periodic antenna >1GHz: Average, RBW 1MHz, VBW 10 MHz, wave guide horn For Part 24/22 we use the substitution method ( TIA/EIA 603). 2.1Summary of test results We did measurements for GSM 850 with the same parameters as for GSM 1900.
