Introduction and scope It is a Sony Ericsson policy that all RF transmitting product models shall comply with relevant recommendations, standards and regulations on human exposure to electromagnetic fields. In the reference section below, the most important RF safety guidelines are listed [9-13]. If no national standard or regulation is available in a country, the international recommendation from ICNIRP [9] shall be applied. The RF safety guidelines specify basic restrictions and reference levels. In the frequency range of interest for mobile communications, the basic restrictions are expressed as Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) limits and the reference levels as field strength or power density limits. The reference levels are provided for the purpose of simple measurements of com…

Output power is EIRP. This device contains GSM 900 MHz and 1800 MHz functions that are not operational in U.S.Territories. This filing is only applicable for PCS 1900 MHz operations. SAR compliance for body-worn operating configurations is limited to the specific configuration tested for this filing. Body-worn operations are restricted to belt-clips, holsters or similar accessories that have no metallic component in the assembly and must provide at least 1.5 cm separation between the device and the users body. End-users must be informed of the body-worn operating requirements for satisfying RF exposure compliance. The highest reported SAR values are: GSM 1900: Head: 0.62W/kg; Body-worn: 1.49W/kg GPRS active
