Operational Description

Theory of Operations Vivotech RFID/NFC Reader The reader device is a near field communication reader. Under command from a connected Electronic Cash Register (ECR) It emits a 13.56MHz magnetic field that energizes a nearby un-powered RFID enabled tag (contactless credit card or fob) or powered NFC enabled telephone device. The maximum distance for reading is less than 4cm. When the Vivotech RFID/NFC reader detects an RFID tag in the field, it establishes an encrypted data link with the remote device. The encrypted information from the remote device is then forwarded to the ECR to complete a transaction, such as a purchase or payment authorization. The Vivotech device conforms to the communication standard ISO/IEC 14443.
