July 16, 2007 Block Diagram Statement: TAV-25H The RF signal enters through the RF Input connector on the power amplifier enclosure from the modulator or processor. It then passes through an RF attenuator to limit the output power level of the power amplifier and to help buffer any transients that may come into the power amplifier. After attenuation, the signal is amplified through the VHFTV-25 driver before the signal passes through a bandpass filter. Finally, the amplified signal passes through a dual directional coupler for monitoring purposes. After the directional coupler, the signal exits the power amplifier enclosure before heading out to an antenna for broadcast. #4 – 8021 Edgar Ind. July 16, 2007 Cover Letter: TAV-25H This report is in support of an application by Technalogix Ltd. for certification of transmitting equipment used for VHF Band III television systems (174-216 MHz on channels 7 through 13). Specifically, Technalogix is requesting certification of the Technalogix TAV-25H VHF Band III television transmitter. The TAV-25H Band III supplies a 25-watt peak video signal in addition to 10% of aural power on any of the VHF television channels 7 through 13. Additionally, the control system allows the user to run 110% of rated power (27.5-watts peak) before the overdrive monitor shuts the system down. The video and audio are amplified with a common amplifier chain. The emission designators based on FCC Part 74 transmitters are 5M75C3F (for visual) and 250KF3E (for aural). July 16, 2007 Operational Description: TAV-25H The TAV-25H power amplifier supplies a 25-watt peak video signal with an aural carrier level of 10 to 13 dB below visual carrier (dBc) on any of the VHF television channels 7 through 13. Please note that channel selection must be made at time of order, as the transmitter or translator is calibrated and tested to the channel requested and is not field tunable. The TAV- 25H power amplifier is a modular solid-state 25-watt broadcast amplifier utilizing readily available RF components wherever possible, thus enhancing the serviceability of the equipment. The TAV-25H is comprised of a 25 watt pallet that provides 25 watts of peak visual power in addition to the aural carrier power. The TAV-25H features ultra linear amplification with amplifier modules that are stable for high reliability and long service life. #4 – 8021 Edgar Ind.
