           !" #$            i Thank you for purchasing the Everyday Wireless Model TX-3M UHF FM Data Transceiver. Before proceeding with the equipment installation, it is imperative that you read the following pages of notices and precautions. In order to ensure your equipment installation complies with FCC specifications and fulfills all warranty-related obligations, read comprehensively the IMPORTANT USER NOTICES and PRECAUTIONS sections below. IMPORTANT USER NOTICES βˆ‘ FCC WARNING: This equipment generates or uses radio frequency energy. Changes or modifications to this equipment may cause harmful interference unless the modifications are expressly approved in the instruction manual. The user could lose the authority to operate this equipment if an unauthorized change or modification is made. βˆ‘ FCC RF Exposure Requirements: The antenna included with the Model TX-3M Transceiver must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 centimeters from all persons, must not be co- located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter, and must not exceed the antenna gain specified in the Antenna Use description below. Failure to observe these restrictions will result in exceeding the FCC RF exposure limits. βˆ‘ Antenna Use: The AU2-UHF antenna is included with the shipment of each Model TX-3M Transceiver. DO NOT use any other antenna with the Model TX-3M Transceiver or modify the antenna / coaxial cabling without first consulting with Everyday Wireless or an Everyday Wireless qualified service organization. The included AU2-UHF antenna is a quarter-wave, omni directional antenna with 3 dBi of gain, and integral GPS antenna. The RG-58 UHF coaxial cable line has a minimum loss of 1.0 dB. βˆ‘ Accessories: The accessories supplied with the Model TX-3M GPS transceiver are specifically designed for the Model TX-3M. Use of other accessories may severely degrade performance or even damage the transceiver, and will void the warranty. βˆ‘ Component Access: There are no service accessory parts inside the transceiver. Do not try to open the transceiver without prior approval from Everyday Wireless. Opening the transceiver will void the warranty. βˆ‘ Service: Only qualified service personnel must install or repair equipment. PRECAUTIONS βˆ‘ Do not modify the transceiver for any reason. βˆ‘ Do not expose the transceiver to long periods of direct sunlight, nor place it near heating appliances. βˆ‘ The Model TX-3M UHF FM Transceiver transmits data in the 450-470 MHz frequency band, which is regulated in the United States by the FCC. Because the FCC grants access to specific frequencies, and can grant access by multiple users to the same frequency, system performance may be affected by the presence of other nearby users of the frequency used by the owner of this transceiver. βˆ‘ The United States Government is responsible for the operation, accuracy, and continued operation of the Global Positioning System (GPS). Accuracy and position fixes (latitude, longitude and altitude) can be ii affected by alterations made to the GPS satellites by the U. S. Government. Accuracy is subject to change in accordance with the U. S. Department of Defense civil GPS user policy and Federal Radio- navigation Plan. Positional accuracy and time to fix time can also be affected by poor view caused by obstructions such as tall buildings, heavy foliage, and large cliffs or other obstructions where GPS satellite signals are blocked and poor satellite geometry conditions result.                   December 13, 2004 Federal Communications Commission Authorization and Evaluation Division Compliance with Part 90.203(e) and Part 90.203(j)(3) To Whom It May Concern, The Everyday Wireless Model TX-3M transceiver complies with Part 90.203(e), which reads: β€œExcept as provided in paragraph (g) of this section, transmitters designed to operate above 25 MHz shall not be certificated for use under this part if the operator can program and transmit on frequencies, other than those programmed by the manufacturer, service or maintenance personnel, using the equipment’s external operation controls.” Everyday Wireless certifies that there are no user controls on the Model TX-3M that would allow the user to adjust the frequency on which the unit is transmitting. Further, the Everyday Wireless Model TX-3M transceiver complies with Part 90.203(j)(3), which reads: β€œApplications for part 90 certification of transmitters designed to operate on frequencies in the 150-174 MHz and or 421-512 MHz bands, received on or after February 14, 1997, must include a certification that the equipment meets a spectrum efficiency standard of one voice channel per 12.5 kHz of channel bandwidth. Additionally, if the equipment is capable of transmitting data, has transmitter output power greater than 500mW, and has a channel bandwidth of more than 6.25 kHz, the equipment must be capable of supporting a minimum data rate of 4,800 bits per second per 6.25 kHz of channel bandwidth.” Everyday Wireless certifies that the Model TX-3M has no voice channel, transmits data only, and is capable of supporting a minimum data rate of 4,800 bits per second per 6.25 kHz of channel bandwidth. The device has provisions for operation in a vehicle. Configuration Antenna p/n Type Max. Gain (dBi) Passenger Car - - 3 Operating Configuration and Exposure Conditions: The conducted output power is 46.5dBm = 45 Watt for the band 450-470MHz. The duty cycle is typically 0.25% (25 msec burst in a 10 second period). For the purpose of this evaluation, a maximum duty cycle of 1% is considered. The duty is set by protocol firmware at the time of manufacture. The user does not have access to such adjustments. Vehicle Operation: The maximum antenna gain that can be used is 3 dBi. A coaxial cable of the type RG58 has a loss of a least 1dB for a length of 10 feet, yet no cable loss was considered for this evaluation.
