USERGUIDE WelcomeYour purchaseThank you for purchasing the Olympia Cordless Data Phone (CDP). As you will have already realised, this system is much more than just a cordless digital phone; it is a complete Bluetooth™ data network thatincorporates a telecommunications system consisting of a base station that can accommodate up to 7handsets (one of which can be a Bluetooth™ headset).O This phone system's facilities are available and can be used when connectedto a single line. Important safety instructionsI THIS EQUIPMENT IS NOT DESIGNED FOR MAKING EMERGENCY TELEPHONE CALLSWHEN THE MAINS POWER FAILS. ALTERNATIVE ARRANGEMENTS SHOULD BEMADE FOR ACCESS TO EMERGENCY SERVICES. Intended connection warningThis product is intended for connection to analogue public switched telephone networks and privateswitchboards in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States of America.Safety informationOnly use the power supply included with the CDP. Using an unauthorised power supply will invalidateyour guarantee and may damage the telephone.For the handset, use only approved Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) re-chargeable batteries. Never useother batteries or conventional alkaline batteries. They could lead to a short circuit or destroy the batterycasing. Recommended batteries should have a power rating of at least 700mAh 1.2V. Do not open the base station or handset (other than to change the batteries). This could expose you tohigh voltages or other risks.Radio signals transmitted between the handset & base may cause interference to hearing aids.This product should not be used near emergency / intensive care medical equipment and should not beused by people with pacemakers.Never dispose of batteries in a fire. There is a serious risk of explosion and / or the release of highly toxicchemicals. CleaningSimply clean the handset and base with a damp (not wet) cloth, or an anti-static wipe. Each CDP handset and base is assigned a unique 48 bit long Bluetooth address. 2. Each handset and bases are 'paired' in Bluetooth speak creating a secure voice link between HS and BS. 3. The pairing process is accompanied by the use of a 4 digit (i.e. 10,000 possibilities) PIN number. This PIN number is combined with the BT address to create a 128bit link key (2^128 combinations!), which is different each time a voice link is established.
