The AP460C isaTriRadio 802.11axaccesspoint basedon advancedradio technology andisIP67 ratedforharsh andextreme outdoorenvir- onments, with an extendedtemperature range (-40 C - +60 C). The AP460C tri-radio design delivers802.11ax2x2:2 and4x4:4 dataratescon- currently on the 2.4 and5 GHz radios, andhasathirdradio foradedicateddual-bandsensor. Forregulatory andcompliance information, see "Regulatory Compliance Statements". Important! Change the Country Code Ifyouraccesspoint isconfiguredforthe WorldRegulatory Domain, it isimportant to set the country code to the country in which the AP willbe deployedto meet regulatory requirementsandforoptimalwirelessoperation. To do this, follow these steps: Thecountrycodeselection isforWorldmodelsonlyandisnot availabletoFCC,CAN,andothercountry-specificmodels.PerFCCreg- ulations,allWi-Fiproductsmarketedin theUnitedStatesmust beset toU.S.channelsonly. 1. Poweron the APandallow it to findandconnect to ExtremeCloud IQ. Once the AP isconnectedit appearsin the table ofdeviceson the Manage>Devicespage. 2. Select the checkboxnext to the AP, andthen chooseAssign Country Codefrom theActionsdrop-down list. In the dialogbox, select the appropriate country from the drop-down list, andthen clickSave. 3. Uploadyourchangesto the device. Safety Guidelines Safety Guidelines The information in thissection appliesto AP460C devices. The followingsafety iconsare usedin these guidelinesto identify the type ofprecaution: AP60C Hardware Guide1 AP460C Hardware Guide1 Thisicon indicatesageneralcaution. Failure to comply with acaution notification can result in damage to equipment. Thisicon indicatesan electricalcaution. Failure to comply with alasercaution can result in seriousinjury. The followingtable liststhe safety precautionsyoushouldfollow when installingyourAP460C devices. Extreme Networksdevicesmust be installedby aprofessionalinstallerwho iscertifiedto installthese typesofdevices andto ensure that they are properly groundedandmeet applicable localandnationalelectricalcodes. These devicesare intendedforindooruse only. Warning: ThisisaClassA product. In adomestic environment thisproduct may cause radio interference in which case the usermay be requiredto take adequate measures. Do not installthe device in an environment where the operatingambient temperature might exceedthe recom- mendedranges. Forproductsavailable in the USA/Canadamarket, forthe 2.4 GHz band, only channels1-11 can be operated. Selec- tion ofotherchannelsisnot possible. Changesormodificationsmade to thisdevice that are not expressly approvedby the party responsible forcom- pliance couldvoidthe user'sauthority to operate the equipment. Use only attachmentsandaccessoriesspecifiedby Extreme Networks. These devicesare not intendedforuse by persons(includingchildren) with reducedphysical, sensory, ormentalcap- abilities, orwith lackofexperience ofknowledge unlessthey are given supervision orinstruction concerninguse ofthe devicesby aperson who isresponsible fortheirsafety. Children shouldbe supervisedto ensure that they do not play with the devices. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage equipment andimpairelectricalcircuitry. ESD damage occurswhen elec- tronic componentsare improperly handledandcan result in complete orintermittent failures. Be sure to follow ESD-pre- vention procedureswhen handlingelectronic componentsandequipment. Duringoperation, the surfacesofthe AP460C device can become hot. Use caution when handling. To meet federal radiation exposure requirements, these devices should be installed at aminimum distance of 12" (30 cm) from people or animals. Install the AP The followingsectionsdescribe how to mount yourAPin an outdoorlocation on apole orflat surface. AP60C Hardware Guide2 AP460C Hardware Guide2 To meet Canadian radiation exposure requirements, these devices should be installed at aminimum distance of 14" (35 cm) from people or animals. Mount the AP460C horizontally orvertically on apole usingthe built-in bracketson the hardware, oron asolidflat surface usingan accessory bracket (see "Accessories"). These devicescan be installedin even the most extreme outdoorenvironments. The followingsectionsdescribe the installation process. Required Tools To installyourAP460C device horizontally orvertically on apole, youwillneedthe followingitems: lTwo hose clampsthat accommodate the diameterofthe pole to which youare mountingthe device. lA slottedscrewdriverto tighten the hose clamps. Installthe Device Before youinstallthe device, make sure that youhave allthe materialsandtoolsnecessary, andfamiliarize yourselfwith the safety andsite haz- ardwarnings. Forbest performance,deployAP460Cdevicesin relativelyopen areasat least 100'(30.5m)apart fromeach other. Install the Device on a Vertical or Horizontal Pole Use the followingstepsto installthe device on averticalorhorizontalpole. 1. Threadtwo hose strapsofthe correct diameterforthe pole through the slotsin on the backofthe device andaroundthe pole. Hose straps shouldbe 1/2"(12 or13 mm) wide andmade ofstainlesssteel. 2. While holdingthe device against the pole, use aslottedscrewdriverto tighten first the topandthen the bottom hose strapsuntilthe device issecure. Make sure that the LAN glandsare facingdown (earth) to eliminate the chance ofwaterenteringthe chassis.
