Car Booster CB Series User’s Manual Version 1.2 January 2004 Car Booster and Optional Booster Car Booster Car Charger Jumper Cable Supplied Car Antenna Optional Accessories Car Antenna RG-174UCoaxial Cable Phone DC 12V Booster The Car Booster is ideal for motor vehicles, boats, home or office use where there may be a weak signal inthe cellular network. This poor reception may be the result of distance from the nearest transmitter or thepresence of obstructions between the transmitter and the receiving cellphone. The Car Booster provides amplification of transmit and receive signals for improving voice quality, servicerange and access. It is designed to operate on CDMA800, PCS1900, GSM900, and DCS1800 dependingon different Car Booster model.Features: High output power, make your conversa-tion more comfortable even stay in weaksignal area.Compatible to most Genuine and Generichands free kits.Easy to Install, simply connect one enddirectly into your phone via a patch leador through a hands free kit and connectthe other end to an antenna. Booster Antenna Installation Procedures Procedures:1.Firstly install your antenna. 12.Tuck the cable through to the drivers seat and connect to the booster 3 socket markedantenna . 3.Connect the cellphone 4 to the booster 3 marked signal adapter . 4. Plug the power cable into the booster 3 power input and the other end 5 into the cigarettesocket of the vehicle. 5.Connect the cellphone 4 to the booster 3 marked signal adapter . The signal will take about 5-10 seconds to be amplified and willbe increased gradually. A. In Car with Car Antenna (no hands free kit) 4 1 3 2 5 Booster Antenna Installation Procedures Procedures:1. Firstly install your antenna and HFK.2. Tuck the antenna cable 2 through to the drivers seat and connect to the booster 3socket marked antenna . 3. Connect the HFK cable 1 to the booster 3 marked signal adapter . 4. Plug the power cable into the booster 3 power input and the other end 5 into the cigarettesocket of the vehicle. 5. Turn on the switch. The signal will take about 5-10 seconds to be amplified and will beincreased gradually. B. In Car with Car Antenna and Hand Free Kit (HFK) 1 3 2 5 Booster Antenna Car Kit Installation Procedures C. Indoor 4 3 2 Booster 1 Procedures:1. Decide on a suitable place for installing the booster. It is advisable to have as close aspossible to the mobile phone. 2.Connect the antenna (or external antenna) 1 to the booster 3 connector markedantenna . 3.Connect the cellphone 4 to the booster 3 marked signal adapter . 4.Connect the optional power transformer 2 then switch on. 5.The signal will take about 5-10 seconds to be amplified and will be increased gradually. Troubleshooting It is advisable to have at least one bar of signal showing on your cellphone signal strength indicator. If after turning on the booster and waiting 5-10 seconds, there is no power increase shown on theindicator, check the following: 1. That all connectors are correct and connected properly.2. That is a power supply and the green power light is lit on the booster.3. If there is no improvement please contact your distributor. FCC RF Exposure Requirements: CAUTION:The antenna (s) used for this transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction withany other antenna or transmitter.Vehicle - Antenna Installation:- The antennas used for this transmitter must not exceed an antenna gain of 3 dBi with a minimum cable loss of 2.9 dB. - For rear deck trunk and roof top installations, the antenna must be located at least 20 cm away from rear-seat passengers and by standers in order to comply with the FCC RF exposurerequirements. Failure to observe these restrictions will result in exceeding the FCC RF exposure limits. Otherwise, compliance with the power density limits of 1.1310 is required. Antenna: The manufacturer does not specify any antenna to be used with this device. This device has provisions for operation in a vehicle. Configuration Antenna p/n Type Max. Gain (dBi) Passenger car Any - 3 Operating configuration and exposure conditions: The conducted output power is 31.8dBm = 1.514 Watt for 800MHz band and 31.2dBm = 1.318Watt for the PCS band. - Vehicle Operation: The maximum antenna gain that can be used is 3dBi. A coaxial cable of the type RG174 has a loss of 2.9dB at 850MHz and more at 1880MHz for a length of 10 feet. For such configuration the EIRP is 1.55Watt in the cellular band and 1.35Watt in the PCS band. MPE Calculation : The minimum separation distance is calculated as follows: 5/4/2004 Page 2 of 3 FCCID: RFJCB-127 The limit for general population/uncontrolled exposure environment is 0.57mW/cm2 for the worst-case frequency below 1500MHz and 1mW/cm2 above 1500MHz.
