Introduction The WUS-N02 Wireless N TM USB Adapter is a convenient wireless connectivity solution for desktop or notebook PCs. The WUS-N02 comes with software drivers for the most popular Microsoft Windows operating systems and can be integrated into a larger network, running Windows 2000, XP and Vista, in either Ad Hoc mode (without an Access Point) or Infrastructure mode (with an Access Point). 1 Features z Compatible with IEEE802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b. z Convenience of Plug and Play installation. z USB 2.0 standard*. z Support wireless data encryption with 64/128-bit WEP for security z Support WPA, WPA2 and AES* enhanced security * Using a USB 1.1 port will adversely affect throughput. Installation Step 1. Before installing the utility software, do not insert the WUS-N02 USB Adapter into your computer. If the USB Adapter is inserted already, Windows will detect the adapter and request for a driver. Click Cancel to quit the wizard and remove the USB Adapter from your computer. Step 2. Insert the Driver & Utility CD into your CD drive. Step 3. Click on Install Utility at the autorun page. Note: If the autorun page doesn’t appeat automatically go to Start, Run, and type D:\autorun.exe (where D is the letter of your CD drive) and click OK. Step 4. Click Next at the welcome screen. Step 5. Click Next to accept the default destination folder to install the software or click Browse to manually select a different destination folder. Step 6. Click Next at the Select Program Folder screen. Step 7. Verify “Yes, I want to restart my computer now.” is selected and click Finish to restart your computer. 2 Warranty CE Mark Warning: This is a Class B product. The CD contains software drivers and manual which can be obtained from D-Link (see Technical Support below). Windows 000, XP, Vista in most cases will automatically install the correct drivers. 2. If I’ve forgotten my wireless encryption key? The wireless encryption key is configured at the Wireless Access Point, Router or DSL Modem Router. If you are unable to obtain your encryption key, the only solution would be to re-configure your Access Point/Router to use a new encryption key. Please contact your Wireless Access Point/Router/DSL Modem Router manufacturer. 3. Why can’t I get a wireless connection? Check that your WUS-N02 is plugged in properly to the USB port or try to plug the DWA-40 into another USB port if available. Check that the LED has come on. If no the driver or the USB port need to be look at. Ensure that the wireless settings on the WUS-N02 match the settings on your Access Point/Router. Please check and confirm your settings for. Wireless Network Name (SSID) Wireless Encryption Key Wireless Security Method (E.g. WEP, WPA) To check whether a Wireless connection has been made, in the Windows System Tray (bottom right). Red means no valid connections have been made. Check that your Internet is working fine on existing computers. Ensure that you have followed and completed the software installation process, otherwise, please re-install the software. The LED on the WUS-N02 should come on after software installation. 4. Which Operating Systems does the WUS-N02 support? The DWA-40 support all popular Operating Systems including Microsoft Windows XP(64/ bit)/000. In all cases with USB dongles and notebooks, both horizontal and vertical USB slots must be investigated. This is to demonstrate testing in all typical configurations. So for this application, additional SAR data is required with one notebook with vertical USB slots. Only the lap held position needs to be investigated. The three notebooks tested all had only horizontal slots. The SAR test lab should be aware of this requirement. I sent this update already in a separate email for application AN07T7196.
