Teddy Tag™ User Guide for iOS®X Devices 1. Download the Teddy Tag™ App & Enable Bluetooth a. On your iOS6.0® (or later) compatible smartphone or tablet (iPad 3&4, iPad Mini, iPad Air) or iPod Touch (v.4 or later), from the Apple App Store® (internet connection and iTunes® account may be required) download and follow instructions to install the free Teddy Tag™ App. (Figure 1.) b. Go to Settings> Bluetooth > On (Figure 2.) Disconnected Mobile Modes There are several conditions that will cause your Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator to lose wireless connection (e.g. Airplane Mode, closed Teddy Tag™ App, Bluetooth disabled, iOS® device powered off, out of effective range). If your Teddy Tag™ Bear loses its wireless connection it will trigger an audible alert and continue to search for the paired mobile device until successfully reconnected or the Teddy Tag™ battery is completely drained. Please note that once successfully paired with your mobile device, re- pairing is not required in order for the Teddy Tag™ Bear to reconnect. 2. Charging the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator a. A Micro USB cable is included with your Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator and can be used to connect to a USB-compatible power source (not included) for charging. The default state of charge from the factory can vary and we recommend charging the unit until fully charged before initial operation. b. To charge the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator, connect the Micro USB cable via the Micro USB port at the bottom of the Bear to a USB-compatible power source. Charging status will be indicated by the red indicator LED flashing intermittently. Once fully charged, the Teddy Tag™ Bear will display a constant red indicator light and cease charging. Pairing the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator to an iOS® mobile device or tablet a. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled and launch the Teddy Tag™ App. b. Press the “Function Button” (orange button) on the Teddy Tag™ Bear to activate discovery mode. A blue LED indicator light will flash intermittently (approximately once per second) to indicate that the unit is now discoverable. c. Next, open the Teddy Tag™ App and tap the Search Button to search for nearby discoverable units. (Figure 3.) d. Once discovered, a Pairing Request window will pop up on screen requesting pairing confirmation. Tap “Pair” to complete the process. (Figure 4.) 3. Finding the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator or iOS® mobile device or tablet a. For your child to alert you via your mobile device or tablet, he or she simply needs to push and release the “Function Button” (orange button) on the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator and your mobile device’s preset ringtone will trigger to alert you. (Figure 5.) b. To find and locate your child while wearing the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator, simply open the Teddy Tag™ App on your mobile device or tablet and tap the “Find” button/icon. A loud audible alert from the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator will trigger and last for approximately 5 seconds. (Figure 6.) 4. Teddy Tag™ Proximity Alert Function a. To select the notification range at which your iOS® mobile device or tablet and Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator will trigger notification, tap the Device Settings Icon ___ within the Teddy Tag™ App and tap the Range Icon. Select ___ “Far” (Green Icon) ___ “Near” (Red Icon) or ___ “Off” (Grey Icon. b. Different environmental conditions may affect the actual distance at which the wireless proximity function will trigger a notification. This function is not based on physical distance but rather the calculated strength of wireless signal between the paired iOS® mobile device or tablet and the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator. We recommend testing in various locations to gain familiarity with this function. 5. Teddy Tag™ App Main Screen & Device Settings Menu Main Screen a. Help Menu b. Device Search (Pairing Mode) c. “Find” Icon (Locate the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator) d. Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator Visual Icon (tap to change) e. Bluetooth Wireless Signal Strength Meter (color indicates effective range selected) f. Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator Device Name g. Device Settings Menu Device Settings Menu a. Remove Paired Device Icon b. Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator Device Name Field (tap to edit; press Return on keyboard to apply changes) c. Teddy Tag™ state of charge meter d. Proximity Alert Range Icon (tap to change) e. Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator “Bear” Alert Tone (tap to change) f. iOS® mobile device or tablet Alert Tone (tap to change) 6. Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator Manual Power On/Off a. To manually switch the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator device to the off-state, depress and hold the Function Button (Orange Button) until a prompt appears on-screen within the Teddy Tag™ App to confirm the manual shutdown request. Upon shutdown confirmation, an extended audible tone will begin at which point the Function Button must be released. The wireless signal strength indicator within the Teddy Tag™ App will confirm the manual shutdown state of the device accordingly. b. To manually switch the Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator device to the on-state after shutting down, depress the Function Button (Orange Button) once. Visual indicator LED lights and an audible beep will confirm that the Bluetooth wireless connection has been re-established and the Signal Strength Indicator Icon will confirm re-connection of the paired Teddy Tag™ Smart Child Locator. Page 2 of 31 1 General Information 1.1 Notes The purpose of conformity testing is to increase the probability of adherence to the essential requirements or conformity specifications, as appropriate. The complexity of the technical specifications, however, means that full and thorough testing is impractical for both technical and economic reasons. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that a test sample which has passed all the relevant tests conforms to a specification. Neither is there any guarantee that such a test sample will interwork with other genuinely open systems. The existence of the tests nevertheless provides the confidence that the test sample possesses the qualities as maintained and that is performance generally conforms to representative cases of communications equipment. The test results of this test report relate exclusively to the item tested as specified in 1.5. The test report may only be reproduced or published in full. Reproduction or publication of extracts from the report requires the prior written approval of the Worldwide Testing Services(Taiwan) Co., Ltd. Specific Conditions: Usage of the hereunder tested device in combination with other integrated or external antennas requires at least additional output power measurements, spurious emission measurements, conducted emission measurements (AC supply lines) and radio frequency exposure evaluations for each individual configuration performed, for certification by FCC.
