1 Purpose of Th______is Man__u_________________________l Epson 160627 802.11b/g Wireless Radio Module Usage Guide The 160627 is an 802.11b/g radio module that can be used for adding Wi/Fi functionality to Epson products. This device has been FCC and IC tested and certified as a stand alone module. Integrating the RF Wi/Fi Module into a final product requires implementing the following requirements into the final product. IMPORTANT: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Epson Canada Limited could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. United States FCC Purpose of This M__ FCC Compliance Statements IMPORTANT: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Epson Canada Limited could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. This modular transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter and a separation distance of 20 cm or more should be maintained between the antenna of this device and persons during device operation. Canada IC Purpose of This__ Industry Canada Notices This device complies with Industry Canada licence-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device. 2 Under Industry Canada regulations, this radio transmitter may only operate using an antenna of a type and maximum (or lesser) gain approved for the transmitter by Industry Canada. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that necessary for successful communication. This letter is our application for such according to FCC 47 CFR 15.212 Modular Transmitters. 160627 RF Modular Transmitter Requirements: Requirements for Modular Transmitters Manufacturer’s Clarification (i) The radio elements of the modular transmitter must have their own shielding. The physical crystal and tuning capacitors may be located external to the shielded radio elements. Modular transmitter has its own shielding. (ii) The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs (if such inputs are provided) to ensure that the module will comply with part 15 requirements under conditions of excessive data rates or over- modulation. The modular transmitter uses a single chip solution which provides for data buffering on the modulation/data inputs. (iii) The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation. The modular transmitter has its own power supply regulation. (iv) The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna and transmission system requirements of §§ 15.203, 15.204(b) and 15.204(c). The antenna must either be permanently attached or employ a ‘‘unique’’ antenna coupler (at all connections between the module and the antenna, including the cable). The ‘‘professional installation’’ provision of § 15.203 is not applicable to modules but can apply to limited modular approvals under paragraph (b) of this section. The modular transmitter has a permanently attached antenna.
