This equipment complies with FCC RF radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment at a separation distance of at least 20 cm from all persons. This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: —Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. —Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. —Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. —Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/ TV technician for help. Intended for indoor use only. To see the BeoPlay A8 product label, remove the back cover. Pull out the cover at the bottom to release the locks, then lift it off. The FCC requires that the calculated MPE be equal to or less than a given limit dependent on frequency at a distance of 20 cm from a device to the body of a user. The transmitter operation of the BeoPlay A9 covers the 2.4-2.4835GHz band. The following FCC Rule Parts are applicable: Part 1.1310: Radiofrequency radiation exposure limits Part 2.1091(c): Radiofrequency radiation exposure evaluation: mobile devices CALCULATION The following far field power density equation is applicable: S = EIRP/4 π R 2 Where S = Power density EIRP = Effective Isotropically Radiated Power (EIRP = P x G) P = Conducted Transmitter Power G = Antenna Gain (relative to an isotropic radiator) R = distance to the centre of radiation of the antenna (safe operating distance) Values Transmitter frequency range = 2400MHz to 2483.5MHz Maximum conducted power (measured) = 21.8dBm (151.4mW) Maximum Antenna Gain = 1.6dBi EIRP = 21.8 + 1.6dBm = 23.4dBm (218.8mW) S = 1.0 mW/cm 2 for General population uncontrolled exposure (FCC Part 1.1310, Table 1(B) Radiofrequency radiation exposure limits) S = 1.0mW/cm 2 R = 20 cm Bang & Olufsen a/s, Peter Bangs Vej 15, P.O. box 40, DK-7600 Struer Main phone no. [45] 96 84 11 22, Fax [45] 96 84 53 33, CVR-no. 41257911 www.bang-olufsen.dk Calculation S = EIRP/4 π R 2 S = 218.8/12.56 x (20) 2 S = 218.8/5026 S = 0.044 mW/cm 2 Conclusion This confirms compliance to the required FCC Part 1.1310 Radio frequency radiation exposure limit of 1.0mW/cm 2 at 20cm operation.
