The Adapter can be used in Ad-Hoc mode to connect directly with other cards for peer-to-peer file sharing or in Infrastructure mode to connect with a wireless access point or router for access to the Internet in your office or home network. The Wireless Cardbus/PCI/USB Adapter connects you with 802.11g networks at up to an incredible 54Mbps! And for added versatility, it can also interoperate with all the up to 11Mbps 802.11b products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country. And in either mode, your wireless communications are protected by industrial-strength WPA, so your data stays secure. 1.2 About This Guide This User Manual contains information on how to install and configure your Wireless Adapter to get your network started accessing the Internet. It will guide you through the correct configuration steps to get your device up and running. Note and Caution in this manual are highlighted with graphics as below to indicate important information. Contains related information corresponds to a topic. Wireless Network Adapter User manual Page 4 of 25 1.4 Contents of Package z Wireless network Cardbus/PCI/USB adapter z Manual, Drivers and Utility on CD z Quick Installation Guide If any of the above items are missing, please contact your reseller. 1.5 Before you begin You must have at least the following: z A laptop computer/desktop PC with an available 32-bit Cardbus/PCI slot z At least a 300MHz processor and 32MB of memory z Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP z A CD-ROM Drive z Cardbus/PCI/USB controller properly installed and working in the laptop computer z A 802.11g or 802.11b Access Point (for infrastructure Mode) or another 802.11g or 802.11b wireless adapter (for Ad-Hoc; Peer-to-Peer networking mode.) Chapter 2 Designing Your Wireless Network The wireless Cardbus/PCI/USB Adapter supports up to 54 Mbps connections. This card is fully compliant with the specifications defined in IEEE802.11g standard. For your information, it is in portable configuration when the USB dongle is plugged into PC, it is in mobile configuration when the USB dongle is connected with PC via "USB cradle". Since the max. power output is below low threshold per TCB exclusion list 2002-07, this device can be used in portable configuration without SAR evaluation. (ERIC: Please see the updated materials that's show the USB cradle removed) Question #2: The external photos show USB dongle and "USB cradle". But the internal photos does not show "USB cradle", there is no information provided in user manual, schematics and operational description. If the "USB cradle" is part of EUT to be included in this filing, please provide internal photos and schematic diagram of the "USB cradle" and modify operational description and user manual to cover "USB cradle". (ERIC: Please see the updated materials that's show the USB cradle removed) Question #3: The user manual does not contain any regulatory statements. Please add 15.19 labelling statement, 15.21 user information, 15.105(b) user information, 15.247 RF exposure statement into the manual. (ERIC: Please see the updated materials attached) Question #4: User manual - The user manual indicates 11 channels are used in US, 13 channels are used in EU, 14 channels are used in Japan, please explain how the manufacturer provents end user to use unauthorized channels, e.g. channel 12 and channel 13. Please provide mechanism. (ERIC: The user manual is prepared for all the market would be sold, but it will set and locked before leaving the factory with the designated channel according to the National regulation to be sold to prevent the illegal use of the spectrum.) Question #5: The user manual indicates the transmitter power is 15dBm,which is higher than the measured max. power output: 12.06dBm as recorded in the test report. Please correct inconsistency.
