WIRELESS FLASH TRIGGER BY C CC CA AA AC CC CT TT TUS USUS US ™ USER MANUAL 2 Thank you for choosing CACTUS. This Cactus PT-04 Wireless Flash Trigger is a powerful yet stable device to command external flashes wirelessly. With this wireless flash trigger, you can place different flashes at various angles and distances from the object without being hindered by wires. This is particularly useful for portrait and product photography. Please read this instruction manual carefully and refer to the manual of your camera and flash if necessary. The Cactus PT-04 Wireless Flash Trigger composes of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is to be attached on your camera while the receiver an external flash. When the transmitter is activated, it emits radio signal to the receivers and therefore triggers the external flashes. Each receiver works with one flash. Number of receivers to be used with a transmitter is unlimited. In other words, you can control as many external flashes as you wish provided that you have enough receivers to work with them. The transmitter is made of advanced electronic circuits and components. Its special energy-saving design allows a new battery to last a year when the unit is in the standby mode or triggers 20,000 times continuously. Triggering current is only 0.01mAh. It is safe for all cameras, both film and digital, and flashes with standard hot shoe or PC sync connector. The four selectable channels and advanced anti-interference feature allow the device to work within the effective area without interfered by other channels. Trademark Information CACTUS is a registered Trademark of Harvest One Limited in Hong Kong. 3 CONTENTS Nomenclature ..........................................P. 4 Operation ..........................................P. 5 Major Specifications ..........................................P. 7 Trouble Shooting ...........................................P.8 Notices ..........................................P. 9 Warranty ..........................................P. 10 4 NOMENCLATURE Transmitter Receiver 5 OPERATION Channel setup There are two small switches located at the bottom of the transmitter. Four channels can be tuned according to different combination of the switches. Only when the channel of the transmitter matches that of the receiver, the external flash cannot be triggered off. The combinations are as follows: Channel No. Switch 1 Switch 2 1 1 2 2 0 2 3 0 N 4 1 N 6 Operation 1. Attach hot shoe of the external flash to that of the receiver, or use the flash’s connection cable to connect the receiver and the flash. 2. Switch on the power of the receiver. 3. Set the channel of the receiver according to the table above so that it is the same as that of the transmitter. The switch of the receiver is inside the power compartment. 4. Press the “TEST” button of the transmitter. The light on the transmitter will be on, so as that of the receiver. Both lights are on means that both the transmitter and the receiver are working in good condition. 5. Attach the hot shoe of the transmitter to the hot shoe of the camera. 6. If your camera does not have a hot shoe, plug the 3.5mm plug of the camera’s connection cable to the jack of the transmitter’s X synchronic cable; connect another side of the camera’s connection cable to the jack of the camera’s X synchronic cable. 7. More than one receiver can be used to work with the transmitter. 7 MAJOR SPECIFICATIONS The package includes: 1. One transmitter 2. One Receiver 3. One PC sync cable 4. One battery for transmitter and one for receiver Specifications • 4 channels selectable • Radio working frequency: 433MHz; • Maximum effective area: 10 metres / 3 feet 5 inches (in open area without interference) • Minimum effective area: 60 centimetres / 2 feet • Power Input of Transmitter: L1028 12V 23A battery • Power Input of Receiver: CR2 3V Alkaline battery • Net Weight: 78g. 8 TROUBLE SHOOTING Q: I press the button on the transmitter but my flash does not light up. Why? A: Please make sure that: 1. The plastic wrapping on receiver’s battery has been removed. 2. Batteries on both the transmitter and receiver are new. 3. The receiver has been switched to “ON”. 4. The channels of both the transmitter and receiver match each other. 5. When you press the button on the transmitter, the LED on the receiver and transmitter will light up. Q: The flash misfires even I did not press the button on the transmitter. What can I do? A: Although this trigger has advanced anti-interference design, interference from the environment is still inevitable. Please move your setup to some other areas and try again. If misfiring stops, the problem may come from the interference of the environment. Interference may occur if you place flashes too close to each other. Try to move the flashes apart for at least 60cm / 2 feet. Misfiring problem should be resolved. If misfiring persists, switch to different channels and try again. 9 NOTICES NOTICES FOR CUSTOMERS IN THE U.S.A.
