RF Exposure Info

Applicant: Nokia Solutions and Networks FCC ID: VBNAKQW-01 Public Page 1 of 2 EXHIBIT 12 RF EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT Section 1.1307 (b) Environmental Assessment Requirement for Equipment Authorization Commission actions granting construction permits, licenses to transmit or renewals thereof, equipment authorizations or modifications in existing facilities, require the preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) if the particular facility, operation, or transmitter would cause human exposure to levels of radiofrequency radiation in excess of the limits in §§ 1.1310 and 2.1093 of this chapter. Section 1.1310 Radio Frequency Radiation Exposure Limits The criteria listed in Table 1 shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radiofrequency (RF) radiation as specified in Section 1.1307(b), except in the case of portable devices which shall be evaluated according to the provisions of § 2.1093 of this chapter. Further information on evaluating compliance with these limits can be found in the FCC’s OST/OET Bulletin Number 65, ‘‘Evaluating Compliance with FCC-Specified Guidelines for Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Radiation.’’ Response  The Nokia AKQW AirScale RRH 8T8R 320W is typically installed on poles or walls in fixed locations. Therefore, the AKQW is neither a portable nor a mobile wireless device. The Nokia AKQW is an 8 port radio head that transmits 40 Watts per port over the B77 spectrum (3700 - 3980 MHz). This product supports Single Carriers 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 MHz and Dual Carriers 20+20, 100+100 MHz in Contiguous and Non-Contiguous configurations utilizing QPSK, 16 QAM, 64QAM and 256QAM modulation formats. The 8 individual transmit ports are identical in design, rated power, and performance. The RF exposure assessment for the overall AKQW will be evaluated separately to ensure the compliance. FCC Section 2.1049 – Occupied Bandwidth/Edge of Band Emissions 4.1 Occupied Bandwidth In 47CFR 2.1049 the FCC requires: “The occupied bandwidth, that is the frequency bandwidth such that , below its lower and above its upper frequency limits, the mean powers radiated are each equal to 0.5 percent of the total mean power radiated by a given emission shall be measured under the following condi tions as applicable.” This required measurement is the 99% Occupied Bandwidth, also called the designate d signal bandwidth and needs to be within the parameters of the products specified emissions designator . During these measurements it is customary to evaluate the Edge of Band emissions at block/band edges. The transmitted signal occupied bandwidth was measured using a Keysight MXA Signal Analyzer. Before measuring the Edge of Band emissions, the RF power level was confirme d with the Keysight MXA Signal Analyzer. The RF output from the EAC port to signal analyzer was reduce d (to an amplitude usable by the signal analyzer) by using a calibrated attenuator and RF Switch. The path attenuation was offset on the display and the signal for the carrier was adjusted to the correc ted RF power level for the resolution bandwidth used for the transmit signal. All mask values were adj usted based upon the designated signal bandwidth and measurement bandwidths. In accordance with KDB 662 911 D01 Multiple Transmitter Output, the limit of -13 dBm has been adjusted to -22 dBm to reflect 10 log(n ) where n=8 for the 8x8 MIMO operation. 4.3.1 Edge of Band Emissions – Plots All of the measurements met the requirements of Part 27.53 when measured per Part 2.1049. Output Power is the rated conducted output power. This device supports Frequency Range 1 5G NR modes of 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 MHz bandwidth modes for TDD Band n77. Certification of 3GPP 5G NR band n77 operations is limited to the 3.45 GHz segment under Part 27.5(o) and the 3.7 GHz segment under Part 27.5(m). Installers must be provided with appropriate antenna installation instructions and transmitter operating conditions, for satisfying RF exposure compliance. RF exposure compliance is addressed at the time of licensing, as required by the responsible FCC Bureau(s), including antenna co-location requirements of §1.1307(b) (3). Device supports single and dual-carrier contiguous and non-contiguous modes.
