QUICK START GUIDE STATION 2 Congratulations on your new ScripTalk Station 2! This Quick Start Guide will help you get started on your way to safety, privacy and independence in managing your prescription medications. What’s In the Box? ScripTalk Station 2 Reader Sample Bottle 4 AA Batteries Power Adapter 2 The Buttons On/Off Volume Switch There is an On/Off Volume switch and three buttons that will allow you to operate the reader and access the information on your prescription labels. 3 About the Electronic Label The talking label may be found: tPOUIFCPUUPNPG your bottle or container tPOUIFTJEFPG your bottle or box Due to packaging or medicine content, your label may be attached as an annex tag. To access the electronic label, lift it away from the package when scanning. 4 Powering the Unit Connect the USB cable adapter to the port on the left side of the reader. Then plug the adapter into a power source. You can also use 4 AA alkaline batteries to power your unit. The battery access door is on the back of the unit. If you are using batteries and forget to turn the unit off, it will beep every couple of minutes to remind you to turn it off. 5 Power and Volume Control Turn the thumbwheel switch clockwise to power on the unit. To adjust the volume, turn the thumbwheel. To shut off the unit, turn the thumbwheel counter-clockwise until you hear a click. 6 On-Board Help To listen to the instructions on how to use the unit, press and hold READ for about three seconds. To stop the instructions, press READ again. Press Next or Previous to move through the different topics. The unit can only read one label at a time. If the unit cannot find or read a label, it will give you a warning. Have a sighted friend or a family member read the label for you, and talk to your pharmacist to see about a new label. Warning! Unable to Read Label. 10 Changing the Voice Speed To change the voice speed, press and hold NEXT or PREVIOUS for three seconds, then press NEXT or PREVIOUS to find the speed you like. Press READ to set the speed. 3 Seconds SelectSave 11 Spell Mode You can have the information spelled out if you don’t understand a word. Select the slowest setting in voice speed. It will say “Spell Mode.” Press READ to select, then scan your label. Reset voice speed to exit. 12 Accessories A handy travel bag is available for your convenience.
