miniPCI Manual 1. Product Overview This JA24MP series PCI adapter contains a Atheros AR2413/4 chip for IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless LAN. Based on the latest industry standard Wi-Fi Certified IEEE 802.11b/g specifications, the mini PCI adapter supports key security features like Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), WPA2, WEP and 802.1x. You can find this miniPCI module that is seated inside the wireless products such as the notebook computers or any other devices containing Mini PCI socket. 2. Packaging Contents The mini PCI module package contains the following item(s): 1 x Wireless Mini PCI adapter 3. Installation guide Shut down the power of the device. Align the PCI adapter to the Mini PCI socket. Adjust and push down the PCI adapter gently until the metallocking levers aside from the Mini PCI socket is fastened. (Please take note that the PCI adapter can only fit in one direction due to the keyed notch. Wrong orientation will cause improper installation and may damage the Mini PCI socket ! ). Connect the antenna(s) on the mini PCI module. Turn on the device could work properly. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, it may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by tuning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try and correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: -Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna -Increase the distance between the equipment and the receiver. -Connect the equipment to outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. -Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. You are cautioned that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void your authority to operate the equipment. This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions (1) This device may not cause harmful interference and This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. Caution: Exposure to Radio Frequency Radiation. To comply with FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, a separation distance of at least 20 cm must be maintained between the antenna of this device and all persons. This device must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter The OEM integrator has to be aware not to provide information to the end user regarding how to install or remove this RF module in the user manual of the end product. The user manual which is provided by OEM integrators for end users must include the following information in a prominent location. “To comply with FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, the antenna used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm from all persons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. Label for end product must include “ Contains FCC ID:W23-JA24MPN ” or “ A RF transmitter inside, FCC ID: W23-JA24MPN ”.

Applicant/Grantee FCC ID: W23-JA24MPN Section 15.212 Modular Transmitters Request for Modular Approval Request for Limited Modular Approval Requirements EUT Conditions Comply (Y/N) Single Modular Approval Requirements 1 The radio elements of the modular transmitter must have their own shielding. The physical crystal and tuning capacitors may be located external to the shielded radio elements. The radio portion of this module has been shielded, please see exhibition External Photo. y 2 The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs (if such inputs are provided) to ensure that the module will comply with Part 15 requirements under conditions of excessive data rates or over-modulation. The EUT has buffered data inputs, it is integrated in chip AR2414 y 3 The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation. The module has its own power supply by 3.3VDC via mini PCI interface. y 4 The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna and transmission system requirements of Sections 15.203, 15.204(b) and 15.204(c). The antenna must either be permanently attached or employ a “unique” antenna coupler (at all connections between the module and the antenna, including the cable). The “professional installation” provision of Section 15.203 is not applicable to modules but can apply to limited modular approvals under paragraph (b) of this section. The EUT meets the FCC antenna requirements. The spurious emission unique antenna connector and please refer to antenna spec. y 5 The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration, i.e., the module must not be inside another device during testing for compliance with Part 15 requirements. Unless the transmitter module will be battery powered, it must comply with the AC line conducted requirements found in Section 15.207. AC or DC power lines and data input/output lines connected to the module must not contain ferrites, unless they will be marketed with the module (see Section 15.27(a)). The length of these lines shall be the length typical of actual use or, if that length is unknown, at least 10 centimeters to insure that there is no coupling between the case of the module and supporting The EUT was tested in a stand-alone configuration via a mini PCI interface to test kit. Please see section Photographs of Test Configuration in the test report, the EUT was plugged in this test kit. y equipment. Any accessories, peripherals, or support equipment connected to the module during testing shall be unmodified and commercially available (see Section 15.31(i)). 6 The modular transmitter must be equipped with either a permanently affixed label or must be capable of electronically displaying its FCC identification number. (A) If using a permanently affixed label, the modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC identification number, and, if the FCC identification number is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed must also display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label can use wording such as the following: “Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: XYZMODEL1” or “Contains FCC ID: XYZMODEL1.” Any similar wording that expresses the same meaning may be used. The Grantee may either provide such a label, an example of which must be included in the application for equipment authorization, or, must provide adequate instructions along with the module which explain this requirement. In the latter case, a copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. (B) If the modular transmitter uses an electronic display of the FCC identification number, the information must be readily accessible and visible on the modular transmitter or on the device in which it is installed. If the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed must display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label can use wording such as the following: “Contains FCC certified transmitter module(s).” Any similar wording that expresses the same meaning may be used. The user manual must include instructions on how to access the electronic display. A copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. FCC ID is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed must also display a label referring to the enclosed module.” Please see exhibition Label Sample for the FCC ID of this module. And also in the exhibition Users Manual, there are instructions give to the OEM on how to label the end product. y 7 The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rules or operating requirements that ordinarily apply to a complete transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. A copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. The EUT is complied with all FCC rules. Please refer to user’s manual for detail. y 8 The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements in its final configuration. RF exposure requirement can be fulfilled only for mobile configuration. i a y A limited modular approval may be granted for single or split modular transmitters that do not comply with all of the above requirements, e.g., shielding, minimum signaling amplitude, buffered modulation/data inputs, or power supply regulation, if the manufacturer can demonstrate by alternative means in the application for equipment authorization that the modular transmitter meets all the applicable Part 15 requirements under the operating conditions in which the transmitter will be used. Limited modular approval also may be granted in those instances where compliance with RF exposure rules is demonstrated only for particu…
