Columbia MD 21046 FCC ID: WTO-CP1110 To whom it may concern: We, Cochlear Limited 1 University Avenue Macquarie University NSW 2109 Australia hereby declare that the antenna we use in our device for 2.4 GHz communications is a monolithic component from Yageo, model ANT3216LL00R2400A. This component has a peak gain of 5.05 dBi but when in the CP1110, the device under approval, simulations have shown an actual gain of 2.4 dBi at the used frequency range. The supporting document attached from us shows the results of this simulation and the justification for this. The coil in the implant and the coil from the sound processor forms an inductive loop when they are closely coupled together. Power as well as data is transferred from the sound processor to the implant via the closely coupled coils over the inductive link. Same as previous Cochlear sound processors, the power transferred from the Nucleus 8 sound processor is to power the implant only. The transferred power and data are controlled by the supply voltage to the sound processor’s coil and the duty cycle of the 5MHz PWM signal over the inductive link (thereafter 5MHz inductive link). We, Cochlear Limited, located in 1 University Avenue, Macquarie University, New South Wales, Australia, hereby declare that these fundamental aspects of the 5MHz inductive link have not changed since Nucleus 5 Sound Processor that was confirmed by FCC as an unintentional Radiator in 2009. Over the time, improvements were made to improve the efficiency of the 5MHz inductive link. Signed on behalf of Cochlear Limited in 1 University Avenue, Macquarie University, 2109 NSW, Australia, on 12th September 2022. ___________________________________________ By: Steven Kennedy Title: Vice President Global Regulatory Affairs Company: Cochlear Limited Telephone: +61294286555 E-mail: [email protected] DocuSign Envelope ID: 5DA59F8D-6075-4A47-824C-350B97C44453

Nucleus 8 sound processor is Cochlear's smallest Behind-The-Ear (BTE) sound processor. An important user preference is to be as discrete as possible. For this reason, similar to previous BTE sound processors, the marking will be placed on the inner spine surface area so that it is not visible while Nucleus 8 sound processor is being worn on an ear. The available surface area for marking on the inner spine is very limited. As shown in the artwork for engraving attached, the unique device number (#101016XXXXXXX) and build standard letter (Y), whose fond sizes are smaller than four-points, have already occupied most of the inner spine surface area and thus leave no surface area for the FCC ID (WTO-CP1110). As per section 3 of FCC General Guidelines for labelling, 84748 D01 General labelling and Notification v09r01, we plan not to mark the FCC ID on the case, instead, to include the FCC ID in the user guide and also place it either on the device packaging or on a removable label. Please confirm if our proposal for marking is acceptable so that the TCB can proceed the certification. Thanks and Regards Limin Zhong Principal Engineer FCC Response on 10/04/2022: Hello, Yes, we can accept pursuant to 2.925(f) of the FCC Rules.
