POSLAB ECON-Z83 USER MANUAL USER MANUAL Page. 1 1. Introduction ECON-Z83 would like to announce a low-cost and low-power consumption module which has all of the WiFi, Bluetooth and FM functionalities. The highly integrated module makes the possibilities of web browsing, VoIP, Bluetooth headsets, FM radio functional applications and other applications. With seamless roaming capabilities and advanced security, also could interact with different vendors’ 802.11b/g/n Access Points in the wireless LAN. The wireless module complies with IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standard and it can achieve up to a speed of 72.2Mbps with single stream in 802.11n draft, 54Mbps as specified in IEEE 802.11g, or 11Mbps for IEEE 802.11b to connect to the wireless LAN. The integrated module provides SDIO interface for WiFi, UART / I2S / PCM interface for Bluetooth and UART / I2S / PCM interface for FM. This compact module is a total solution for a combination of WiFi + BT + FM technologies. The module is specifically developed for Smart phones and Portable devices. 2. Features  802.11b/g/n single-band radio  Bluetooth V4.0(HS) with integrated Class 1.5 PA  BT/WLAN receive with single antenna  WLAN host interface options: - SDIO v2.0 — up to 50 MHz clock rate  BT host digital interface: - UART (up to options: I2S, PCM, eSCO, A2DP  IEEE Co-existence technologies are integrated die solution  ECI — enhanced coexistence support, ability to coordinate BT SCO transmissions around WLAN receives A simplified block diagram of the module is depicted in the figure below. Deliverables 3.1 Deliverables The following products and software will be part of the product.  Module with packaging  Evaluation Kits  Software utility for integration, performance test.  Product Datasheet.  Agency certified pre-tested report with the adapter board. 3.2 Regulatory certifications The product delivery is a pre-tested module, without the module level certification. For module approval, the platform’s antennas are required for the certification. It has the ability to stop the SDIO clock and map the interrupt signal into a GPIO pin. This ‘out-of-band’ interrupt signal notifies the host when the WLAN device wants to turn on the SDIO interface. The ability to force the control of the gated clocks from within the WLAN chip is also provided.  Function 0 Standard SDIO function (Max BlockSize / ByteCount = 32B)  Function 1 Backplane Function to access the internal System On Chip (SOC) address space (Max BlockSize / ByteCount = 64B)  Function 2 WLAN Function for efficient WLAN packet transfer through DMA (Max BlockSize/ByteCount=512B) 11. Host Interface Timing Diagram 11.1 Power-up Sequence Timing Diagram The module has signals that allow the host to control power consumption by enabling or disabling the Bluetooth, WLAN and internal regulator blocks. These signals are described below. Additionally, diagrams are provided to indicate proper sequencing of the signals for carious operating states. The timing value indicated are minimum required values: longer delays are also acceptable. ※ WL_REG_ON: Used by the PMU to power up the WLAN section. When this pin is high, the regulators are enabled and the WLAN section is out of reset. When this pin is low the WLAN section is in reset. ※ BT_RST_N: Low asserting reset for Bluetooth and FM only. This pin has no effect on WLAN and does not control any PMU functions. This pin must be driven high or low (not left floating). RF_734_02 04 April 16 Modular Approval Request FCC (KDB 996369 D01 & Part 15.212) FCC ID: Y2A-ECON-Z83 Items to be covered by Single limited modular transmitters. Answer from applicant 1. The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding. The modular has a shielding Case. Please refer to EUT Photo. 2. The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs (if such inputs are provided) to ensure that the module will comply with Part 15 requirements under conditions of excessive data rates or over-modulation. The component number is BCM4343 3. The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation. The module has no regulator. 4. The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of Section 15.203 and 15.204(b)(c). The antenna must either be permanently attached or employ a “unique” antenna coupler (at all connections between the module and the antenna, including the cable). The module complies with this Requirement. 5. The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration, i.e., the module must not be inside another device during testing. This is intended to demonstrate that the module is capable of complying with Part 15 emission limits regardless of the device into which it is eventually installed. This modular is tested under stand-alone configuration. Please refer to Test setup photo. 6. The modular transmitter must be equipped with either a permanently affixed label or must be capable of electronically displaying its FCC identification number in accordance with 15.212 (a)(1)(vi)(A) / (B). The modular transmitter is labeled with its own FCC ID number. Please refer to label sample and label location. 7. The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. A copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. For example, there are very strict operational and timing requirements that must be met before a transmitter is authorized for operation under Section 15.231. For instance, data transmission is prohibited, except for operation under Section 15.231(e), in which case there are separate field strength level and timing requirements. Compliance with these requirements must be assured. The modular complies with this requirement. Please refer to user manual. 8. The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements. For example, FCC Rules in Sections 1.1310, 2.1091, 2.1093, and specific Sections of Part 15, including 15.319(i), 15.407(f), 15.253(f) and 15.255(g), require that Unlicensed PCS, UNII and millimeter wave devices perform routine environmental evaluation for RF Exposure to demonstrate compliance. In addition, spread spectrum transmitters operating under Section 15.247 are required to address RF Exposure compliance. Modular transmitters approved under other Sections of Part 15, when necessary, may also need to address certain RF Exposure concerns, typically by providing specific installation and operating instructions for users, installers and other interested parties to ensure compliance. The modular transmitter must comply with all requirements of a single modular transmitter except for items (1) & (5) of the above single modular approval requirements. 2. Only the radio front end must be shielded. The physical crystal and tuning capacitors may be located external to the shielded radio elements. The interface between the split sections of the modular system must be digital with a minimum signalling amplitude of 150 mV peak-to-peak. 3. Control information and other data may be exchanged between the transmitter control elements and radio front end. 4. The sections of a split modular transmitter must be tested installed in a host device(s) similar to that which is representative of the platform(s) intended for use. 5. Manufacturers must ensure that only transmitter control elements and radio front end components that have been approved together are capable of operating together. The transmitter module must not operate unless it has verified that the installed transmitter control elements and radio front end have been authorized together. Manufacturers may use means including, but not limited to, coding in hardware and electronic signatures in software to meet these requirements, and must describe the methods in their application for equipment authorization. Note: A limited modular approval (LMA) may be granted for single or split modular transmitters that comply partially with the requirements above.
