Side Views Check the machine for damage before each use. Clean and store the machine after each use. Do not expose this product to water, moisture, heat, or steam. Do not place objects filled with liquid on this product. Do not use the machine with attachments not approved by the manufacturer. When using the machine outdoors, do not use it in wet or very hot weather. Do not run charging cable through puddles or other moisture. Do not expose battery to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, or other heat sources to reduce risk of fire or explosion. Do not look directly into the projector light #1 Charge the machine and insert two AA batteries into each microphone. #2 Power on the machine, projector, and microphones. #3 Focus the projector on a wall or screen. #4 Connect to your preferred Wifi network. #5 Find your favorite song online and project the lyrics for all to see. #6 Sing your heart out! Note: See the “Detailed Usage Guide” section of this manual for more information on how to operate your machine. Machine How to charge the machine Plug the machine’s charging cable into the DC15V (18) charging port and then plug the cable into the power adaptor. Plug the power adaptor into a polarized wall outlet. Be sure to charge fully before each use. The Charging Indicator Light (4) will turn on to indicate charging. How to turn on the machine There are two steps to powering on the Illuminato Q4 Flip the Machine Power (26) switch towards the side labeled On to turn the machine on. Then push the Projector Power (12) button to turn on the projector. The Power Indicator Light (5) will turn on. How to turn the machine off There are two ways to turn the machine completely off. A. P ress the Projector Power (12) button again and flip the Machine Power (26) switch towards the side labeled Off. B. P ress the Power button on the remote control. Be sure to flip the Machine Power switch back into the off position before storing. Please note that pressing the Projector Light (11) button will only put the projector in sleep mode. Pressing this button does not turn the machine itself off. How to adjust the machine’s volume Spin the Machine Volume knob clockwise to increase the machine’s volume and counterclockwise to decrease it. If the projector light is on, a bar will also appear indicating volume level. How to access the machine’s settings Please note: The machine’s settings are distinct from the Smart OS settings. For more information on the Smart OS settings, please see the ‘Smart OS ‘section. You can enter the machine settings in one of three ways: by pressing the Settings (K) button on the remote, by pressing the Menu (14) button on the machine’s control panel, or by navigating to the “Settings” tile in the DMP system. How to alter the machine’s settings Once you are in the settings menu as instructed above, you will be able to use the side Navigation Controls on the remote (B) or the machine (8) to switch between “Picture,” “Sound,” and “Option” modes. “Picture” mode adjusts the screen’s contrast, brightness, color, sharpness, temperature, aspect ratio, and noise reduction. “Sound” allows you to choose from present settings which optimize the sound balance for different types of media. “Option” allows you to modify the display language, obtain software updates, and reset the machine to its factory defaults. You can use the up and down Navigation Controls in conjunction with the OK (9 or G) button to select specific settings in this mode, the side Navigation Controls again to shuffle through each setting, and the OK button once more to select the setting of your choice. Press the Return button on the remote control (C) or panel (10) to return to the previous screen or the Home (E) button to return to the Smart OS system. Projector How to begin setting up the projector A. Carefully remove the machine’s lens cover B. Power on the machine as instructed in “How to turn on the machine” above. C. Connect to your preferred WiFi network (see the “How to connect to WiFi” section below) D. Place your projector in front of a projector screen or blank wall (see chart below) How far from the screen should you place the projector? Your projector should be 3 to 10.4 feet from your screen depending on the desired screen size. Please see the accompanying size and distancing chart. Please note that this chart is an approximate guideline. All distances and sizes might vary by up to 3% depending on keystone, focus, brightness, etc. How to reduce image distortion Aim your projector as close to the center of the screen as possible. For a square or rectangular image, the projector should be as close to the same height as the center of the screen as possible. If the projector is below the screen, please adjust the keystone accordingly (see “How to adjust the keystone” below). The Lens Keystone (2) can adjust this shape to accommodate the angle. Spinning the Lens Keystone to the right (when one is behind the machine) will pitch the image up while spinning it to the left will pitch the image down. How to adjust the focus The Lens Focus is adjusted by the Lens Focus (1) ring. Spin ring to the left (when standing behind the machine) if the projector is too far from the screen. Spin the Lens Focus ring to the right if it is too close. How to adjust the angle of the projector machine itself The Illuminato Q4 comes with a large angle adjustment knob at the bottom front of the machine. Twist the knob to raise or lower the front angle of the machine. PLEASE NOTE: If the knob is twisted too far, it will unscrew completely from the base, and the machine will become unstable. DMP System & Playback Modes How to set up playback modes In addition to the Smart OS system, your machine has five different playback options: Bluetooth, AUX, AV, USB, and HDMI. Each of these can be accessed through the DMP System. (Bluetooth, AUX, AV, and HDMI can be accessed independently of DMP as well.) The machine can also be used to make PA announcements. Please see the “Content/Parts’’ section above for hook-up locations and the relevant subsection below for more information on how to set up your preferred playback mode. How to enter the DMP system The DMP system can be used as a navigational aid to access and set up all the playback modes. To access the DMP system, press the Input button on the machine (15) or the remote (J). Use the Navigation Controls (8 or B) to highlight and the OK (9 or G) button to select “DMP.” How to connect to Bluetooth Playing music from your device To use Bluetooth, ensure your device’s Bluetooth function is enabled. Next, navigate to Bluetooth mode using either the tile in the DMP system or the Input (15 or J) button. The machine is now ready to pair. Search for the machine name (“Masingo”) under your device’s Bluetooth connection settings and click to connect. You may short press the Play/Pause/Pair button to pause or play your music in Bluetooth mode, or you may use the controls on your smart device. You may long press the Play/Pause/Pair (13) button on the machine’s function board to disconnect from your current Bluetooth device. Caution: Do not turn your smart device volume to maximum or damage to the speaker may occur. Place your device volume at midrange and then adjust the volume using the volume control on the machine. You may, however, use either the controls on your device or the controls on the machine to play, pause, or switch between tracks. How to use AUX (in) mode This feature is for playing music *from* an AUX-compatible device (such as phone or MP3 player): When the machine is on, plug an Aux Cable into the Aux In (17) port at the side of the machine and into the designated output on the device you wish to connect. The machine will now play the audio that is playing on your external device. Caution: Do not turn your external device volume to maximum or damage to the speaker may occur. Place your device volume at midrange and then adjust the volume using the volume control on the Q4 machine. You may, however, use either the controls on your device or you may use the controls on the machine to play, pause, or switch between tracks. How to use AV-in mode This feature is for playing video and audio *from* your DVD player to the Illuminato Q4 When the machine is on, plug an AV Cable into the AV in (21) port at the side of the machine and into the designated output on your DVD player. Next, navigate to AV mode using either the tile in the DMP system or the Input (15 or J) button. The machine will now display both audio and visuals from your DVD player. How to make PA announcements To make PA announcements, simply speak your announcement into the microphone when no media is playing. How to use USB mode Playing music or movies (or view photos) from a USB drive or hard drive Navigate to the DMP system. Plug a USB stick or cable into a USB Slot (16 or 19) at the side of the machine. Once inserted, the red X will disappear from one USB icon indicating that the USB has been plugged in. To play media from this drive, navigate to the appropriate tile in the DMP system (i.e “Music,” “Movies.” etc.). Any readable media on your drive should appear under the appropriate category. How to project from an external device (HDMI in) Plug an HDMI cable into the HDMI Line In (20) slot on the machine’s function board and the other end into your smart TV, laptop, or PC. Next, navigate to HDMI mode using either the tile in the DMP system or the Input (15 or J) button. The projector should now display what is displayed on your external device. To limit the audio output to the machine only, simply mute the audio on your external device. Caution: Do not turn your device volume to maximum or damage to the speaker may occur. Place your device volume at midrange and then adjust the volume using the volume control on the machine. Smart OS System What is the Smart OS system? The Smart OS system is a fully functional Android system like you might find on a computer or tablet. Through Smart OS, you operate any program that can be operated by an Android tablet, including navigating the internet and playing media through your favorite apps. Please note: You will have to log in to most of your favorite apps the first time you use them on the Illuminato Q4 How to access the Smart OS settings Please note that the Smart OS settings are distinct from the machine settings mentioned above. To access the Smart OS settings, select the settings icon on the Smart OS home screen. How to connect to WiFi Navigate to the Smart OS settings icon on the home screen and then select “WiFi.” Choose your network from one of the available options to connect to. A pop-up keyboard will appear to enter your network’s password. Use the Navigation Controls (B or 8) and OK (G or 9) button or the plug-in mouse to select the characters of your password. How to navigate the Smart OS screen. You may use the Navigation Controls (B or 8) and OK (G or 9) button to move between functions on the Smart OS screen, however we recommend using the included plug-in mouse for a more fluid user experience. Please note we STRONGLY recommend using the plug-in mouse whenever one is within a third-party app. How to sing karaoke using Smart OS. A. Pick one o f the pre-installed music apps OR download your own favorite music app. B. S earch your preferred app for karaoke tracks (i.e. songs with the vocals removed). C. Belt that ballad lik e it’s your birthday! Please note: Both paid and some free karaoke tracks are readily available on most popular music apps. How to mirror/cast your smart device into the projector To cast or mirror/cast your smart device’s screen on the Illuminto Q4 projector, please follow these steps: 1. Mak e sure both the Illuminato Q4 and your smart device are connected to the same WiFi network. 2. Open the “Mirr acast” app on the Illuminato Q4. 3. Do wnload a mirror/casting app from the Google Play store onto your smart device if you don’t already have one. 4. Open y our chosen casting app on your smart device. When asked what device you would like to cast to/mirror, select “PJ- 33S.” Follow all instructions in your chosen app to complete the setup. 5. Y our Illuminato Q4 should now mirror your smart device’s screen and audio. To end mirroring/casting, press the Return (10) button on the Illuminato Q4, and select “Tier Down,” or end mirroring/casting from the app on your personal device. Remote & Mouse Operating and aiming the remote (Install two (2) AAA batteries in the remote.) The machine has two Infrared Sensors (25) on the front and back of the machine. For best results, point the remote at these sensors rather than the projection screen. How to change EQ settings The EQ settings allow you to adjust your audio balance for different types of music. You can select from preset EQ settings by pressing the EQ (L) button on the remote. The current EQ setting will be displayed in the top left corner of the screen. Press the remote’s EQ button again to cycle through each setting. When your desired EQ setting has been reached, wait a few seconds until the EQ display disappears. Your current EQ setting is now selected. How to use the mouse pointer on the remote Pressing the Mouse (I) button on the remote once will make a virtual mouse pointer appear on screen. Use the Navigation Controls (B) to move the mouse pointer, and OK (G) to select. To return the remote to the remote setting, press the Mouse button once more. How to use the included plug-in mouse When navigating third-party apps inside the OS system, it is best to use the included plug-in mouse rather than the remote or machine control panel. Simply plug the included mouse into USB Slot #2 (19) and use it like any mouse to navigate the app Maintenance How to clean Turn the machine and microphones off; (remember that there are separate power buttons for the machine and the projector). Unplug the machine’s power cord and disconnect any AUX, AV, HDMI, or USB plug-ins. Gently wipe the outside of the machine using a clean, dry cloth. Keep all vents, buttons, and openings free of lint and dirt. Do not immerse the machine in water and do not use any harsh cleaners. How to store Charge the machine so that it’s ready for the next use. Dock the wireless microphones in their holsters. Make sure that the machine is clean and dry. Bind the power cord and mouse cable individually and gently with electrician-approved fasteners. (Note: Do not wrap or fold against the natural bend of the cords or cable. Do not wrap the cord around the machine.) Store the machine in a cool, dry place away from damaging elements. For best results, clean and store the machine after each use. How to transport The Illuminato Q4 was designed intentionally for easy transport and mobility. Begin by unplugging all wires from the machine. Place the microphones in the two holders attached to the side of the machine. Extend the machine handle, grip it firmly, and lift the machine. The machine will now travel like a briefcase ProblemSolution Microphone is not turning on The microphone battery is low or depleted. Replace the AA batteries in the microphone. Machine is not turning on The battery is depleted. Be sure to charge the machine after each use. ALSO/OR Remember that the machine has four power buttons: Machine Power (26), Projector Power (12), Projector Light (11), and the remote’s Power button (A). Both the Machine Power and the Projector Power must be turned on in order for the machine to operate. The Projector is not turning on If the machine appears to be powered on correctly, press the Projector Light(11) button to see if the machine is in sleep mode. If you have pressed the projector light button and the projector is still not turning on, power down the machine and then power it back on again. Smart OS is not booting up First, ensure you are in Smart OS mode by pressing the Input (15 or J) button and selecting “Smart OS.” If this does not work, power the machine down and power it back on once more. ProblemSolution The Menu (H) button on the remote is not working You cannot access menu settings using the Menu button on the remote. Please use the Settings (K) button on the remote or the Menu (14) button on the projector itself. USB mode is not working Try unplugging the USB from the machine and plugging it back in again. If this does not work, you may not have any readable data on your USB drive. Machine is not playing microphone vocals Ensure that the Mic Volume (7) is up on the machine’s function board and that the pill sliders on the microphones are also at a sufficient volume. If there is still no audio output from the microphone, please check the batteries. The remote control is not working Ensure you are aiming the remote at the machine’s Infrared Sensors (25). You may also try moving closer to the machine. If this does not rectify the issue, please check the remote’s batteries. PLEASE NOTE: Fluorescent lighting may also interfere with the remote’s signal. If you cannot remove or turn off fluorescent lights nearby, try using the plug-in mouse instead. ProblemSolution I cannot find the app I downloaded. You must add the app to the home screen. Select the “+” tile in Smart OS, navigate to the app you want, and press the Return (C or 10) button. If your app still won’t add, you may need to remove an app from the home screen to make room, also using the “+” function.
