Overview TheRD1xxControllerfromAuVerteispartofamodernroomautomationsolution.TheprincipalapplicationsoftheRD1xxarebridgingtheRF communicationofaroomautomationsystemtowardsadistributedactuatorandsensorinstallation.Incaseswhereitisnotfeasibletowirealoador asensorbacktoaloadcenter,theRD1xxisideallysuitedtoperformalimitednumberofoperationsincloseproximitytothecontrolledload. Toaccommodatevariousapplicationprofiles,theRD1xxisavailableinseveraldifferentmodels.WhilebasedonthesamePCBA(printedcircuitboard assembly)design,thevariantsdifferintheelectroniccomponentsthatareassembledonthePCBAandthesoftwarethatoperatesthedevice. TheRD101receivescontrolcommandsfromoneoftheAuVertethermostatmodelsand translatesthedesiredcontrolsettingintoanHVACmodelcompatibleIRcode.AstheRD101 istypicallyplacedneartheIRreceiveroftheHVACunit,thiscontrolisveryrobust,andthe commonlimitationsofaline-of-sightcontroldonotapply. ThecompactsizeoftheRD101allowsittobeplacedinsidetheHVAChousing.Withthe strengthoftheon-boardIRtransponder,reliableIRtransmissioncanbeachievedthrough thehousingreflections. Inmostinstances,theHVACunitcanbeusedtosourcethepowerfortheRD101which makesthewiringextremelyeffectiveandsimple. AuVertehasaflexibleIRdrivertechnologywhichallowsloadingtheroomcompatibleIR driverduringdeploymentandcommissioning.Thiscapabilityextendsthateachroomcan haveadifferentHVACmodelandtherespectiveIRdrivercanbeassignedonper-room basis. RD1xxController Page 4 ©AuVerteAG ModelRD102:RF-Bridge ManyAuVertecontrollerscontainabuilt-inRFradiotransceiver.Thiscapabilityallowsadevicetodirectlyparticipateinadistributedroom automationsystem.Suchacontrollerthatfeaturesabuilt-inRFradioisforexampletheDIN-railmountableDM102relaycontroller.Onoccasion however,andmostoftenrequiredbyelectricalcode,thesecontrollersaremountedinsideasheetmetalenclosure.Insuchcircumstances,itmight notbepossibletoestablishasufficientlyrobustRFlinkbetweenthedevicesinsidethesheetmetalenclosureandthedevicesthatareoutsidethe enclosure.Toovercomethislimitation,oneofthecontrollersinsidethesheetmetalenclosureconnectswiththeRD102(RFBridge)devicethatwill beplacedoutsidetheenclosure.Insuchanapplication,theRD102willprovidethefullRFperformanceforallthedevicesinsidethesheetmetal enclosureasthedifferentcontrollersmountedinsidetheenclosurearedaisy-chainedandsharetheRD102linkwiththeoutsideworld. Intheimageabove,weseetheRD102ontheleftside.Itisconnectedwiththefour-wireharnesstotheDM102controllerontheleft.Thiscontroller inturndaisychainswiththeDM102controllerontheright.Asingleoff-the-shelfpowersupplywillprovidethenecessarypowerforallthedevices.
