5.4 Operation  Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the appliance.  If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. DO NOT attempt to repair the product yourself. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product: –is visibly damaged, –is no longer working properly, –has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or –has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses. 5.5 (Rechargeable) batteries  Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the (rechargeable) batteries.  The (rechargeable) batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged (rechargeable) bat- teries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted (rechargeable) batteries.  (Rechargeable) batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave (rechargeable) batteries lying around, as there is risk, that children or pets swallow them.  All (rechargeable) batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new (re- chargeable) batteries in the device can lead to (rechargeable) battery leakage and device damage.  (Rechargeable) batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire. Never recharge nonrechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion! 6 Product overview 1 2 3 4 1 Signal LED 2 Hanger 3 Sliding channel switch 4 Battery compartment cover (open) 6.1 Switching on and pairing the outdoor sensor Note: The outdoor sensor can only be operated with batteries. Proceed as follows to supply power to the outdoor sensor and connect the outdoor sensor to the base station: 1.Ensure that the base station is switched on. 2.Open the battery compartment cover (4) on the back of the sensor. 3.Insert 2 AA batteries. Ensure that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity. The positive and negative terminals are marked on the batteries and on the inside of the battery compartment. 4.Set the desired channel for the outdoor sensor by pressing the button on the base station: – Press 1x: Channel 1 (display shows: “CH1”) – Press 2x: Channel 2 (display shows: “CH2”) – Press 3x: Channel 3 (display shows: “CH3”) 5.Set the selected channel on the outdoor sensor by sliding the channel switch (3) into the respective position. 6.Replace the battery compartment cover. ÆThe outdoor sensor will switch on and connect to the base station. Note: – Connection mode will remain enabled for 3 minutes after the base station is switched on. This is indicated by a flashing antenna symbol. – If no signal is received within this time, connection mode will be disabled. – To re-enable connection mode, hold down the button. Important: The outdoor sensor is protected against dust and water spray (IP54). The outdoor sensor can therefore be installed in a location which is exposed to rainfall. If you use the product for purposes other than those described, the product may be damaged. Improper use can result in short circuits, fires, or other hazards. The product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify the product. Read the operating instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Make this product available to third parties only together with the operating instructions. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/ guarantee. 5.1 General information  The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.  Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children.  If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.  Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an au- thorised repair centre. 5.2 Handling  Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product. 5.3 Operating environment  Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.  Protect the appliance from extreme temperatures, strong jolts, flammable gases, steam and solvents.  Never operate the product in direct proximity of strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields or transmitter aerials or HF generators. Doing so can prevent the product from functioning properly. 7 Troubleshooting ProblemCauseSolution Measurements from the outdoor sensor are not displayed or are displayed only intermittently There is a poor connection between the outdoor sensor and the base station Turn the outdoor sensor and base station off and then back on again Make sure you are using the correct power supply Make sure the selected channel is the same on the base station and the outdoor sensor Position the outdoor sensor near the base station to establish a connection Ensure that the outdoor sensor is within range (max. 100 m) Make sure there are no nearby sources of interference (e.g. radio masts, wireless electrical devices etc.) The outdoor sensor was not detected Implausible readings The outdoor sensor is not positioned correctly Place the base station and outdoor sensor in a suitable location (no direct sunlight, not in the vicinity of heat sources etc.) 8 Cleaning and care Important: – Do not use agg…
