This may cause connectivity problems or drain the batter y. Installing the SIM or USIM card Insert the SIM or USIM card provided by the mobile telephone service provider. • Only microSIM cards work with the device. • Some LTE services may not be avai lable depending on the service provider. For details about service availabilit y, contact your service provider. 8 Getting started 1 Insert the SIM or USIM card with the gold- coloured contacts facing downwards. Do not insert a memory card into the SIM card slot. I f a memory card happens to be lodged in the SIM card s lot, take the device to a Samsung Service Centre to remove the memory car d. 2 Push the SIM or USIM card into the slot until it lock in place. 9 Getting started Charging the battery Before using the device for the first time or when the batter y has been unused for exten ded periods, you must charge the batter y. Use only Samsung-approved c hargers, batteries, and cables. Unapproved char gers or cables can cause the battery to explode or dama ge the device. Connect the USB cable to the USB power adaptor and then plug the end o f the USB cable into the multipurpose jack . 10 Getting started Connecting the charger improperly may cause serious damage to the device. An y damage caused b y misuse is not covered by the warran ty. After fully charging, disconnect the device from the charger. First unplug the charger from the device, and then unplug it from the electric socket. To save energy, unplug the charger when not in use. The char ger does not have a power switch, so you must unplug the charger from the electric socket when not in use to avoid wasting power. The charger should remain close to the electric socket and easily accessible while charging. 11 Getting started Checking the battery charge status When you charge the battery while the device is o ff, the following icons will show the current battery charge status: ChargingFully charged Turning the device on and off When turning on the device for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device. 12 Getting started Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds to turn the device on and off. Viewing the user manual The user manual provides complete in formation about operating your device. You may incur additional charges for accessing the Internet or downloading media files. For details, contact your service provider. 13 Getting started From your device 1 Open the Internet application. 2 Tap to open the bookmarks list. 3 Select the bookmark for the user manual. To access the user manual more easily, place a shortcut or widget for the user manual on the Home screen. The user manual may not be available depending on the web browser or service provider.
