This frequency band is designated for electronic aids to navigation under Part 87 for use in Aeronautical Radionavigation. The DME-2100 provides the slant range (line-of-sight) distance from the aircraft to VOR/DME, LOC/DME, VORTAC, and TACAN ground stations.
