Operational Description

Deluxe Key Start Micro R/C 27.145 MHz Transmitter FCC ID: APB92182 – 00A2T 10/20/2000 OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION The Deluxe Key Start Micro R/C transmitter is a low powered, hand held unit for controlling the movement of a toy car or truck. The single function transmitter is powered by a 9 volt battery. It is designed to operate on a single fixed frequency in the 26.96 – 27.28 MHz band. See the attached block diagram and schematic. A single push button switch activates a multi vibrator circuit (Q3 and Q4) which produces the digital control signal which will modulate the carrier signal. The carrier signal is generated by a crystal oscillator/ amplifier circuit comprised of a 27.145 MHz crystal (Y1) and a npn transistor (Q2). The RF carrier signal is modulated by the digital control signal at the base of an RF amplifier stage ( Q1). The modulated output of the RF amplifier stage is capacitively coupled (via C3) to the antenna through a “ pi “ matching network comprised of C1, T1 and C2. The antenna is 4 inches long and permanently attached. In addition to RF transmission, this transmitter also plays sound effects when activated. The sound circuit consists of a sound IC ( U1), an amplifier ( Q5) and a small speaker. This circuit is powered by three 1.5 volt button cell batteries and is electrically independent and isolated from the RF circuit. All tuning and verifications are performed by the manufacturer and there are no adjustments which can be made by the user. No external ground is required or used with this transmitter.

SYSTEM TEST CONFIGURATION The EUT was configured for testing in a typical fashion (as a customer would normally use it). Attached a plastic module to EUT button by using a rubber band to cause continuous transmission. Push-to-Transmit switch is held in transmit position using electrician’s (PVC) tape for transmit mode. The tape is removed for receive mode. Please refer to the following photograph for actual setup. Radiated Open Site Test Set-up
