Test equipment 3.1 Dosimetric system SAR measurements were made using the DASY3 professional system (software version 3.1c), manufactured by Schmid & Partner Engineering AG and installed Febuary, 1998. The total SAR assessment uncertainty (K = 1) of the system is ±16% and includes a +15% offset (overestimation). The extended uncertainty (K = 2) is ±32% with a +15% offset. This results in a total uncertainty range of –1% to +31% for K = 1, or –17% to +47% for K = 2. The equipment list is given below. Exhibit 8 addendum We plan to place this statement on an insert with the manual until we are able to use our existing stock of manuals. Future manuals will have the statement added into the safety section of the manual. Body Worn statement Before a phone model is available for sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that it does not exceed the limit established by the government-adopted requirement for safe exposure. The tests are performed in positions and locations (i.e., at the ear and worn on the body) as required by the FCC for each model. Body worn measurements are made while the phone is in use and worn on the body with an Ericsson accessory. The design and composition of an accessory can affect the body worn SAR levels for the phone. Ericsson has not measured, and makes no representation about the body worn SAR levels when the phone is used with non-Ericsson accessories.

Test equipment 3.1 Dosimetric system SAR measurements were made using the DASY3 professional system (software version 3.1c), manufactured by Schmid & Partner Engineering AG and installed February, 1998. It is measured at the middle of the transmit frequency band. Note that the output power may be different at other frequencies. 2 This equals the maximum output power setting plus the factory tolerance. 4 (21) Prepared (also subject responsible if other)No. RT/EUS/VR/X Mark Douglas919-472-6334 EUS/VR-00:1873/REP ApprovedCheckedDateRevFile EUS/VR/X Mark DouglasMGD2000-08-23A U:\FCC_TRNS\Fcc_388 Dolly Linda Lite\Exhibit11\A1228ds body, all cases.doc E 3.2 Additional equipment Description Serial NumberDue Date Signal Generator HP8648C 3537A015989/00 Dielectric probe kit HP 85070B US330202568/00 Network analyzer HP 8752C 3410A031057/01 Power meter HP 437B3125U137292/01 Power sensor HP 8482H3318A070972/01 4. Electrical parameters of the tissue simulating liquid Prior to conducting SAR measurements, the relative permittivity, ε r , and the conductivity, σ, of the tissue simulating liquids were measured with the dielectric probe kit. These values are shown in the table below. The mass density, ρ, entered into the DASY3 program is also given. Recommended values for permittivity, conductivity and mass density are also shown [3]. It is seen that the measured parameters result in an overestimation of SAR compared to the recommended values. DC Source HP 83712B CW Signal Generator 10 MHz – 20 GHz EFFECTIVE RADIATED POWER The following is a description of the substitution method used in accordance with IS-137A to obtain accurate EDRP readings at the carrier fundamental frequency: (1) EUT measurements are made at 3 m using calibrated antennas and equipment with known cable losses. (2) A maximized measurement is made by raising and lowering the antenna and rotating the EUT 360 degrees. Horizontal and vertical polarization data is recorded. (3) A generator and dipole antenna are then substituted for the EUT. The dipole antenna is a half-wave dipole. If a dipole antenna cannot be used, then the designated antenna is referenced to a dipole antenna. (4) Measurements are made through the dipole antenna at known power levels to deter…
