ID Label/Location Info

8 December 2006 Equipment Authorization Division Office of Engineering and Technology Federal Communications Commission 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 Ref: FCC ID: BBOLI6500 Dear Sirs: Cobra Electronics Corporation requests acceptance of the labeling proposal described below for transceivers bearing FCC identifier BBOLI6500. The subject transceivers are compact handheld models as shown in figure 1, authorized under 47CFR Part 95 for FRS and GMRS services. Figure 1. Because the majority of the transceiver housing is composed of display, speaker, operating controls, and a battery access cover, there is extremely limited space available to attach the required label carrying the FCC identifier. Attaching the label to the battery access cover is not acceptable because the battery access cover is a removable item. For this reason, Cobra proposes placing the label carrying the FCC identifier inside the battery compartment as shown in figure 2. Figure 2. The consumer packaging for these models includes the battery pack as a separate item, NOT installed in the radio. As such, the FCC identifier will be readily visible to the user before the battery pack is installed and whenever the battery pack is removed or replaced. In this location, the label will also be protected from physical abuse and remain readable for the anticipated life of the device. The consumer packaging for these models is a transparent plastic "clamshell" but, because the battery access cover is installed on the radio, the battery compartment cannot be seen at time of purchase. In order to meet the requirements of 47CFR Part 2.925 (d), Cobra will add the FCC identifier "BBOLI6500" to the insert card within the clamshell packaging. Sincerely, Robert Mudra Engineering Manager

Listed Power is ERP. This device is authorized to operate in the following radio services: FRS (Part 95B) or GMRS (Part 95A). There must be an informational insert inside the box (product package) or the Users Manual must include information that clearly informs the consumer (buyer/owner) when the radio is transmitting on GMRS frequencies, that operation on GMRS frequencies requires an FCC license and such operation is subject to additional rules specified in 47 C.F.R. Part 95. This transmitter has been tested for SAR compliance in Push-to-Talk and body-worn operating configurations. Hand held and body-worn SAR compliance is limited to the specific antennas / belt-clips / holsters / accessories tested for this device. Users must be provided with transmitter operating conditions for satisfying RF exposure compliance. This device complies with OET Bulletin 65 for General Population use. The highest reported SAR levels are: Head: 0.657 W/kg for 50% Duty Cycle, Body 0.755 W/kg for 50% Duty Cycle.
