Reference Documents FCC 2.1033(b)(7), 15.203, 15.212 3. Test Personnel Test personnel are valued team members. Their expertise insures accurate test results. Their identities are considered confidential by Apple. 4. Test Equipment Test Equipment Critical Specifications Cal due date Antenna Measurement System Fully anechoic OTA chamber with dual- polarized measurement antenna, mechanical positioners of Theta and Phi axes, and RF path switching. Frequency Range. 8/8/25 Power Meter - R&S NRP Frequency Range, Power Input Range 8/8/25 5. Commercial Test Software The test equipment operates under the control of commercial test software. For OTA chambers sold by ETS Lindgren, EMQuest v1.14 is used. FCC Part 15 Antenna Gain Test Report Apple Inc. Provided By: Rev SHEET Abhishek Rala Version 1.0 Page 4 of 7 6. Test Method EIRP measurement is based on industry-standard method described in CTIA OTA Test Plan (current version 3.9.4). Peak gain (Horizontal and Vertical Polarization) is calculated by subtracting Conducted Power from the measured maximum EIRP. Testing is performed with Antenna integrated in the product Below is the measurement summary from the specification: FCC Part 15 Antenna Gain Test Report Apple Inc. Provided By: Rev SHEET Abhishek Rala Version 1.0 Page 5 of 7 7. MIMO Peak Gain Calculation For MIMO G(ΞΈ,Ο†) calculations, correlated and uncorrelated gains are calculated at each (ΞΈ,Ο†) using the following process. For each (band, channel) pair: The 3D EIRP pattern measured per antenna and per polarization, sampled on a 12 Γ— 24 (ΞΈ, Ο†) grid at 15Β° steps (elevation ΞΈ ∈ {0Β°, 15Β°, ..., 165Β°}; azimuth Ο† ∈ {0Β°, 15Β°, ..., 345Β°}). The conducted power (dBm) at each antenna port for that channel, measured separately from the OTA pattern. For each antenna A ∈ {LAT, UAT}, polarization p ∈ {H, V}, and grid point (ΞΈ, Ο†), the single-Tx antenna gain is obtained by subtracting the conducted power from the measured EIRP: G_A[p, ΞΈ, Ο†] = EIRP_A[p, ΞΈ, Ο†] βˆ’ P_A,conducted All terms are in dB (EIRP and conducted power in dBm; gain in dBi). At every grid point, with the same polarization on both antennas, the two-antenna MIMO gains are computed as: Correlated(p, ΞΈ, Ο†) = 10 Β· log₁₀ [ ( 10^(G_UAT/20) + 10^(G_LAT/20) )Β² / N ] Uncorrelated(p, ΞΈ, Ο†) = 10 Β· log₁₀ [ ( 10^(G_UAT/10) + 10^(G_LAT/10) ) / N ] FCC Part 15 Antenna Gain Test Report Apple Inc. Provided By: Rev SHEET Abhishek Rala Version 1.0 Page 6 of 7 where N = 2 is the number of transmit antennas. Independently for the Correlated and Uncorrelated grids, the reported peak is the max taken over the full (polarization, ΞΈ, Ο†) search space (2 Γ— 12 Γ— 24 = 576 points). 8. Typical Test Setup The device containing the integral antenna is placed on the styrofoam pylon (inside the OTA chamber) as pictured below. EUT FCC Part 15 Antenna Gain Test Report Apple Inc. Grant Notes
Output power listed is EIRP. This device supports 20 MHz, 40 MHz, 80 MHz and 160 MHz channel bandwidths for 802.11. It also supports narrowband UNII with bandwidths of 1 MHz, 2 MHz, 4 MHz and 8 MHz in UNII band 5. The highest reported SAR values for head, body-worn accessory, product specific (hot spot), extremity, and simultaneous transmission exposure conditions are <0.1 W/Kg, 1.05 W/Kg, 1.05 W/Kg, <0.10 W/Kg (10-g), and 1.59 W/Kg respectively. To satisfy FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, body-worn operations are restricted to belt-clips, holsters or similar accessories that have no metallic component in the assembly and must provide at least 5 mm separation between the device and the user's body. End-users must be informed of the body-worn operating requirements for satisfying RF exposure compliance. HAC 2019. Conversational gain values of 13 dB (with hearing aid) and 18 dB (without hearing aid). HAC compliance assessed under waiver DA 23-914.
