Users Manual

Instruction Manual: AW2000 Magnetic Technology Rear Speaker 1.Connect transmitter to the sound source, using the supplied cable. 2. Connect the male connector of the transmitter box to the TV or VCR. 3. Connect the cable line, DSS downlead, or TV antenna to the female connector on the transmitter box. 4. Connect the power supply adaptor to the transmitter and plug it into a wall socket. The furnished power supply operates on standard U.S. 120Volt, 60 Hz AC. For other voltage applications, contact Recoton Customer Service at 800 RECOTON. 5. Move the power switch to the “on” position. 6. Adjust the modulation control until the modulation indicator shows the proper level. This will result in getting the clearest sound possible. 7. Locate the receiver battery compartment cover, and remove it. 8. Install 10 fresh “C” batteries in the compartment, giving careful attention to the polarity markings in the cabinet, and replace cover. 9. After selecting the spot that you desire the speaker to be used, mount the speaker on the wall, or place it on a table 10. Move the receiver power switch to the “on” position 11. If an audio source is present, advance the receiver “volume” control to the desired listening level. In case of difficulty: Verify that the wall socket that the transmitter power adaptor is plugged into is live. Plug a lamp into it to test. Verify that the receiver batteries are not discharged. Try a fresh set. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. User modification of this unit is a violation of FCC certification rules. There are no user serviceable components inside. Contact Recoton customer service at 800 RECOTON. RADIATION INTERFERENCE: The test procedure used was ANSI STANDARD C63.4-1992 using a HEWLETT PACKARD spectrum analyzer with a prese- lector. The bandwidth of the spectrum analyzer was 100 kHz with an appropriate sweep speed. The analyzer was calibrated in dB above a microvolt at the output of the antenna. The resolution bandwidth was 100KHz and the video bandwidth was 300KHz. The ambient temperature of the UUT was 80oC with a humidity of 76%. APPLICANT: RECOTON CORPORATION FCC ID: CLVAW2000 REPORT #: T:\R\REC\373U1\373u1rpt.doc PAGE: 1 APPLICANT: RECOTON CORPORATION FCC ID: CLVAW2000 TEST PROCEDURES CONTINUED FORMULA OF CONVERSION FACTORS: The Field Strength at 3m was estab- lished by adding the meter reading of the spectrum analyzer (which is set to read in units of dBuV) to the antenna correction factor sup- plied by the antenna manufacturer. The antenna correction factors are stated in terms of dB. The gain of the Preselector was accounted for in the Spectrum Analyzer Meter Reading. Example: Freq (MHz) METER READING + ACF = FS 33 20 dBuV + 10.36 dB = 30.36 dBuV/m @ 3m POWER LINE CONDUCTED INTERFERENCE: The procedure used was ANSI STAN- DARD C63.4-1992 using a 50uH LISN. Both lines were observed. The bandwidth of the spectrum analyzer was 10kHz with an appropriate sweep speed. The ambient temperature of the UUT was 80oC with a humidity of 76%. ANSI STANDARD C63.4-1992 10.1.7 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES: The unit under test was placed on a table 80 cm high and with dimensions of 1m by 1.5m. The table used for radiated measurements is capable of continuous rotation. When an emission was found, the table was rotated to produce the maximum signal strength. At this point, the antenna was raised and lowered from 1m to 4m. The antenna was placed in both the horizontal and vertical planes. The situation was similar for the conducted measurement except that the table did not rotate. The EUT was setup as described in ANSIC63.4-1992 with the EUT 40 cm from the vertical ground wall. HOWEVER, IF THE BANDWIDTH OF THE EMISSION IS LESS THAN 10% OF THE CENTER FREQUENCY, THE FIELD STRENGTH SHALL NOT EXCEED 15 uV/m at 30m. OUT-OF-BAND EMISSIONS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GENERAL RADIATED EMISSION LIMITINS IS 15.209. THE SPECTRUM WAS SEARCHED TO THE 10TH HARMONIC AND AND ONLY EMISSIONS LESS T…
