550-1300-01 Rev 1 2-1 2 Mounting the Repeater 2.0 Installation Overview RTI repeaters are designed for indoor or outdoor installation, and can be mounted on either a wall or a pole. The unit’s compact cabinet simplifies installation, and its aesthetically acceptable design means that it conforms to zoning standards in many locations. NOTE: Two people are recommended for mounting the repeater. NOTE: Only qualified service or technical personnel should install the repeater. NOTE: RTI repeaters are not intended for mobile operation, and should be placed in a fixed location. Figure 2-1 shows a typical repeater installation, with installed components.

RC1920C Repeater Reference Manual Installing Antennas 550-1300-01 Rev 1 4-3 4.1 Antenna Configurations RTI repeaters can use any one of four basic antenna configurations: • Donor antenna, and one dual-polarized subscriber antenna (see Figure 4-2) • Donor antenna, and two vertically-polarized subscriber antennas (see Figure 4-3) • Donor antenna, and two dual-polarized subscriber antennas (one for main-beam and one for back-beam, see Figure 4-4) • Donor antenna, and one vertically-polarized subscriber antenna (see Figure 4-5) NOTE: Repeater Technologies does not provide antennas with the repeater. These may be ordered separately for use at the time of installation. Typical antennas are described in section 11.2. NOTE: Antennas are to be fixed mounted on outdoor permanent structures or antenna tower. It is the responsibility of the operator of the station to ensure that the RF exposure requirements are meet for a particular installation including accounting for any co-located antennas. NOTE: When included in a CDMA network, an RTI repeater can use a back-beam antenna, to transmit energy from the repeater, back towards the donor base station. A back-beam antenna increases the allowable distance between the donor BTS and the repeater site.

NOTE: Two people are recommended for mounting the repeater. NOTE: Only qualified service or technical personnel should install the repeater. NOTE: RTI repeaters are not intended for mobile operation, and must be placed in a fixed location. NOTE: A wall-mounting site must be selected such that the repeater is installed permanently to comply with the fixed location requirement. Furthermore, the antenna must be installed on a permanent outdoor structure or antenna tower and not connected directly to the repeater. NOTE: It is the responsibility of the operator of the station to ensure that the RF exposure requirements are meet for a particular installation including accounting for any co-located antennas. Figure 5-1 shows a typical repeater installation, with installed components.

Or will the device be capable of both simultaneously. In either case, indicate compliance with the Part 24 EIRP requirements and with the RF safety requirements as appropriate. Indicate the antennas used for mobile operations and indicate the antennas used for fixed operations. These should agree with the manual or corrections will be required. RESPONSE: The device will be operated in the same manner as a fixed cellular or PCS base station. It does not contain a self-contained antenna; therefore we believe it to be exempt from Part 24 EIRP and RF safety requirements. The antennas utilized with the repeater are determined by the end customer, and installed on free standing towers and are not supplied with the unit.
