A 3-second delay occurs before your hearing aid turns ON, allowing time to place it in your ear. Each hearing aid will turn OFF when you place it in the charging posts (and begin charging). User control If you turned OFF each hearing aid by pressing the user control, pressing the user control again will turn it ON. A 3-second delay occurs before your hearing aid turns ON, allowing time to place it in your ear. Turn OFF each hearing aid by pressing and holding the user control for 3 seconds. Power ON/OFF An indicator will sound through your hearing aid when you turn it ON or OFF: • ON indicator – a series of tones that increase in pitch. • OFF indicator – a series of tones that decrease in pitch. Turn your hearing aids ON/OFF using your charger or user control. See table on p. 15. 16 | Get to know your hearing aids17 | Get to know your hearing aids Power ON/OFF Reminder – StarLink Custom Chargers need to be plugged in to an external power source to charge hearing aids (i.e., wall outlet). StarLink Premium Custom Chargers must have a charged battery or can be plugged into an external power source. Battery indicators • Low battery: An indicator voicing the word, “battery,” will sound when battery voltage is low. From there, you’ll have about 30 minutes* of battery life left. • Battery shutdown: An indicator may also sound just before the battery stops working. *Actual time between low battery indicator and shutdown will vary depending on environmental noise levels and your use of the product. User control (optional) Your hearing aid user control lets you control your hearing aids by hand. This is set up by your hearing care professional, who can also program the button to let you use many smart features. Your user control operates in 3 ways: • Short press: Press and release the user control for 1 second. • Long press: Press and hold the user control for 3 seconds or more. • Tap Control: Firmly tap the user control twice on your hearing aid. They can help you set up a “telephone” setting on your hearing aids and offer tips. • Mobile calls To stream mobile phone calls to your hearing aids, see the Setting Up Your Compatible Mobile App guide included. This shows how to connect (“pair”) your smartphone to your hearing aids. Questions? Your hearing care professional can help. Keep your hearing aids clean to help them work better and last longer. Heat, moisture, and debris can cause damage and affect sound quality. What you’ll need: • Hearing aid cleaning tool (with brush) • Dry, soft cloth Reminder – Do not clean using water, solvents, cleaning fluids or oil. Genesis AI Custom ITE Rechargeable Right Hearing Aid The custom hearing aid is custom manufactured to the patient’s ear canal. Operational Description

1 Genesis AI Custom ITE Antenna Description The Bluetooth 2.4 GHz antenna is a PIFA component. The same antenna is used in both the left and right hearing aids. The antenna is manufactured by Optiprint and its part number is 82188-100. The peak gain of the antenna in the assembled DUT is nominally-2 dBi (see calculations on page 8, below). Date of antenna pattern measurement: Left hearing aid – July 25, 2022 Right hearing aid – July 22, 2022. Signal levels were measured using an Agilent N9020A MXA Signal Analyzer (Spectrum Analyzer). serial number MY50410289, calibrated on July 19, 2021 and October 26, 2022, due for calibration on October 31, 2024. The antenna pattern plots in Figures 2 and 3 are generated by the SG24L test system software. From there, the equation: Max Gain = Max EIRP – Power at antenna pads can be used together with a conducted measurement of the power at the antenna pads by directly connecting a spectrum analyzer to the antenna pads. Note that the same procedure was used by Element’s Brooklyn Park, MN laboratory in the FCC Part 15.247 test reports for these hearing aids. Subtracting the conducted power at the antenna pads from the EIRP value, yields the antenna gain as follows: Right side hearing aid: • Max EIRP = -2.41dBm • Power delivered to antenna terminal = 0.79dBm • Therefore, Gain = -2.41 – 0.79 = -3.20dBi Left side hearing aid: • Max EIRP = -1.56dBm • Power delivered to antenna terminal = 0.22dBm • Therefore, Gain = -1.56 – 0.22 = -1.78dBi
