The module operates according to the IEEE 802.15.4 specification and can be configured to minimize the possibility of interference with other devices. The module receives RF signals from one or more Crestron MNET devices and can transmit these signals over the air or over a cable run for further processing (depending on the application). Functional Summary The transceiver uses a 10 milliwatt signal that can travel up to approximately 100 feet indoors. The range is dependent on the construction of the building, obstructions, and RF interference from other devices. Adding more modules will increase the range of transmission. The location of the module and the orientation of its antenna are also important factors in determining RF performance. The location of the module and the orientation of the antenna are important factors in the RF performance. With the unit located outside of any metal enclosures, the antenna is adjusted to achieve the best range. The range is dependent on its placement and the building in which it is used. The construction of the building, obstructions, and RF interference from other devices are factors determining the effective range of the unit. To prevent unit-to-unit RF interference, multiple modules operating at the same frequencies should not be installed within 3-5 feet of each other. Physical Description The module, shown below, consists of various components attached to a printed circuit board. A SMA non-standard female antenna port is located at edge of the circuit board for attaching the included dipole antenna while a 31-pin interface connector is located on the underside of the circuit board. Please see section Photographs of Test Configuration in the test report. 6. “The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number.” Please see exhibition Label Sample for the FCC ID of this module. Response to TCB Findings The antenna part number listed on Pg 8 of the manual (PDF) does not match the number supplied on the specifications sheet of it. Please clarify. _______________________________________________________________________ Response from Crestron: The part number in the manual is the Crestron Part number, the number customers would use to order the antenna from Crestron. We do not manufacture the antenna, the specification provided for the antenna is from the original Equipment manufacturer. Introduction During February and March of 2005, a series of Conducted and Radiated Emission tests were performed on one sample of the MNET RF Module, Model Number MNET-CWD1012, Serial Number X101380, here forth referred to as the “Equipment Under Test” or “EUT”. These tests were performed using the procedures outlined in ANSI C63.4-2003 for intentional radiators, and in accordance with the limits set forth in FCC Part 15.109 (Industry Canada RSS-210) for a receiver or digital device. These tests were performed by Kenneth L. Boston, EMC Lab Manager of L.S. Compliance, Inc. All Radiated and Conducted Emission tests upon the EUT were performed to measure the emissions in the frequency bands described in Title 47 CFR, FCC Part 15, including 15.35, 15.247, 15.109a and Industry Canada RSS-210 to determine whether these emissions are below the limits expressed within the standards. These tests were performed in accordance with the procedure described in the American National Standard for methods of measurement of Radio-Noise Emissions from Low-Voltage Electrical and Electronic Equipment in the Range of 9 kHz to 40 GHz (ANSI C63.4-2003). Another document used as a reference for the EMI Receiver specification was the Comite International Special Des Perturbations Radioelelectriques CISPR 16-1, 2003. All tests were performed at L.S. Compliance, Inc. in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, unless otherwise noted. 8. Product Description The MNET-CWD1012 is a radio module incorporating an IEEE 802.15.4 2.4GHz RF transceiver. This unit is to be incorporated within other products to allow RF communications between products. All radio functions are contained in the MNET-CWD1012, including a unique antenna coupling.
