The module operates according to the IEEE 802.15.4 specification and can be configured to minimize the possibility of interference with other devices. The module receives RF signals from one or more Crestron devices and can transmit these signals over the air or over a cable run for further processing (depending on the application). Functional Summary • Two-way RF transceiver − 2.4 GHz frequency band, IEEE 802.15.4 specification − Range from 3 feet to 50 ft. − Operates on one of sixteen available channels to establish optimal si gnal quality The transceiver uses a 3.8 milliwatt signal that can travel up to approximately 50 feet indoors. The range is dependent on the construction of the building, obstructions, and RF interference from other devices. The location of the module and the orientation of its antenna are also important factors in determining RF performance. Operations Guide - DOC. 6834 Two-Way RF Transceiver Module: CWD6671 • 1 Two-Way RF Transceiver Module Crestron CWD6671 Specifications The table below is a summary of specifications for the CWD6671. Specifications of the CWD6671 SPECIFICATION DETAILS Power Requirements 0.22 Watts (3.3VDC @ 0.67A) Operating Frequency 2400 MHz to 2483.5 MHz (802.15.4 compliant) Operating Ranges¹ Minimum Distance Maximum Distance Indoors (without repeater device) 3 ft 50 ft Available Channels 16 (numbered 11 through 26 per 802.15.4) RF Output Power 3.8 mW Serial Communications SPI, 3.3V Nominal Antenna Connector SMA Reverse Polarity Female Connector with ¼-36 UNS2B Screw Dimensions Width: 1.35 in (3.43 cm) Height: 2.4 in (6.10 cm) Depth: 0.75 in (1.91 cm) 1. The location of the module and the orientation of the antenna are important factors in the RF performance. With the unit located outside of any metal enclosures, the antenna is adjusted to achieve the best range. The range is dependent on its placement and the building in which it is used. The construction of the building, obstructions, and RF interference from other devices are factors determining the effective range of the unit. To prevent unit-to-unit RF interference, multiple modules operating at the same frequencies should not be installed within 3-5 feet of each other. Physical Description The module, shown below, consists of various components attached to a printed circuit board. A SMA reverse polarity female antenna port is located at edge of the circuit board for attaching a dipole antenna while a 16-pin header is for the application-specific installation. FCC ID: EROCW06671 IC: 5683C-CWD6671 This product uses an 802.15.4 compliant stack located in Ember integrated circuit EM260-RTR. As specified in “Tips for FCC certification on the EM250 or EM260” (http://portal.ember.com/node/959) which directly applies to the EM260-RTR, and as supported by the Ember data summarized below, the worst case amount of time in the TX Mode in any 100ms window is 27%. A 27% Duty Cycle correction factor is therefore applied to the measured radiated spurious emissions results (effectively a -11dB reduction); 20 * LOG (0.27) = 11.373 dB.
