MMooddeell 55990000 ➤ OOwwnneerr’’ss GGuuiiddee i © 2006 directed electronics lliimmiitteedd lliiffeettiimmee ccoonnssuummeerr wwaarrrraannttyy Directed Electronics ("Directed") promises to the original purchaser to repair or replace with a comparable reconditioned model any Directed unit (hereafter the "unit"), exclud- ing without limitation the siren, the remote transmitters, the associated sensors and acces- sories, which proves to be defective in workmanship or material under reasonable use dur- ing the lifetime of the vehicle provided the following conditions are met: the unit was pro- fessionally installed and serviced by an authorized Directed dealer; the unit will be pro- fessionally reinstalled in the vehicle in which it was originally installed by an authorized Directed dealer; and the unit is returned to Directed, shipping prepaid with a legible copy of the bill of sale or other dated proof of purchase bearing the following information: con- sumer's name, telephone number and address; the authorized dealers name, telephone number and address; complete product description, including accessories; the year, make and model of the vehicle; vehicle license number and vehicle identification number. All components other than the unit, including without limitation the siren, the remote trans- mitters and the associated sensors and accessories, carry a one-year warranty from the date of purchase of the same. This warranty is non-transferable and is automatically void if: the original purchaser has not completed the warranty card and mailed it within ten (10) days of the date of purchase to the address listed on the card; the unit's date code or serial num- ber is defaced, missing or altered; the unit has been modified or used in a manner con- trary to its intended purpose; the unit has been damaged by accident, unreasonable use, neglect, improper service, installation or other causes not arising out of defects in materi- als or construction. The warranty does not cover damage to the unit caused by installa- tion or removal of the unit. Directed, in its sole discretion, will determine what consti- tutes excessive damage and may refuse the return of any unit with excessive damage. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUD- ING BUT NOT LIMITED TO EXPRESS WARRANTY, IMPLIED WARRANTY, WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTY OF NON-INFRINGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, ARE EXPRESSLY EXCLUDED; AND DIRECTED NEITHER ASSUMES NOR AUTHORIZES ANY PERSON OR ENTITY TO ASSUME FOR IT ANY DUTY, OBLIGATION OR LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH ITS PRODUCTS. The calculation is based on FCC 47CFR Part 2 and OET 65. Per OET 65: Maximum permissible exposure is the Freq. (MHz) ÷ 1500 = MPE/cm² 909.523MHz (lowest used freq.) ÷ 1500 = 0.6063mW/cm² The following equations determine the distance from the antenna that the power density is ≤ 0.6063mW/cm². +21.00dBm Transmitter Power (Max) 0dBi Antenna Gain (Max) +21.00dBm + 0dBi = +21.00dBm EIRP +21.00dBm EIRP = 126mW EIRP 0.6063mW/cm² = 126mW ÷ (4 x π x r²) r = SQR(126 ÷ 4 x π x 0.6063) r = 4.07cm We would like to emphasize that this device is a hand held remote control for vehicle security and convenience systems. The typical use is for unlocking/locking door locks, activating a car alarm or remote starting the vehicle. We estimate that the typical user will activate the remote about 20 times for a period of 2 seconds on average in a 24-hour period. Therefore, the exposure risk to the user is further minimized by the very low duty cycle of on time of the device. In addition, the following statement will be added to our installation/operation manual: To satisfy FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, this device should be used in hand-held, hand- operated configurations only. The device and its antenna must maintain a separation distance of 20cm or more from a person’s body, except for the hand and wrists, to satisfy RF exposure compliance. This device is designed to be used in a person’s hands and its operating configurations do not support normal transmissions while it is carried in pockets or holsters next to a person’s body.
