G6867T Digital (D2D) Control Center (DS4 / DS4+) Install Guide 2 Product Description The G6867T control center is compatible with the following modules: DS4 and DS4+. Control CenterLEDButton Mounting the Control Center Note Once this replacement control center has been installed, all remote controls must be paired with your system. See Remote Pair- ing for details and follow the instructions for your remote control type. The control center’s position should be discussed with the vehicle owner prior to installation since the antenna, with built-in status LED and Valet/Program, must be visible/accessible to the customer. The best position to locate the control center is centered high on the front windshield. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally relative to the wind- shield. Metallic window tint can also affect range negatively, so this should be a consideration when determining the mounting location. After you determine the best mounting location, follow these steps: Clean the mounting area with a quality glass cleaner or alcohol to remove any dirt or residue. Plug the cable into the control center. Mount the control center with double-sided tape. Route the cable down the window pillar to the control module and plug the cable in the control module. 3 CONTROL CENTER CABLE CONTROL MODULE Remote Pairing Prepare the vehicle system to be Paired with a new remote 1. Open at least one vehicle door. 2. Tu r n the key to the ON position. 3. Within 5 seconds press and release the Control button on the Control Center one time. 4. Within 5 seconds, press and hold the Control button on the Control Center. The status LED begins flashing in single flash sequence and the siren/horn sounds once to confirm the system is ready for remote pairing. Release the button. 5. Locate your remote control model below and follow the instructions. System Pairing will exit if: • The ignition is turned off • The open door is closed • 60 seconds lapses with no actions Note: Make sure the remote to be paired with the system is set for the desired Car 1 or Car 2 operation. 4 LCD Remote Control: 1. Press and hold the AUX button for 8 seconds, the remote beeps once, Main Menu is displayed. Release the AUX button. 2. Press the AUX or AUX buttons until Pair is displayed. 3. Press and hold the AUX button until the remote beeps 3 times then release the AUX button. The remote is now ready to pair with the system. 4. Press the AUX button. 5. Wait several seconds for feedback as the remote generates a security encryption and sends it to the Control Center. If pairing is successful the siren/horn sounds and the remote emits several tones. The screen displays if the Pairing is successful or failed with corresponding text. If pairing fails repeat step 4. To exit pairing mode on the remote: • Press and release the A U A U XX button. • Wait 30 seconds without pressing a command button on the remote. Responder LED or Companion Remote Control: 1. Press and hold the AUX button for 8 seconds. The transmit LED will come on solid. Release the AUX button. 2. Press and hold the AUX until the transmit LED flashes 3 times then comes on solid. 3. Press the AUX button. 4. Wait several seconds for feedback as the remote generates a security encryption and sends it to the Control Center. If pairing is successful the siren/horn sounds and the 2-way remote emits several tones (the com- panion remote does not generate tones). If pairing is not successful press and release the AUX button once and then repeat steps 2 and 3. To exit pairing mode on the remote: • Press and release the AUX button once, then press and hold until the transmit LED shuts off. • Wait 30 seconds without pressing a command button on the remote control. 5 GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS This device complies with Part 15 of FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference re- ceived, including interference that may cause undesirable operation. Standalone SAR test exclusion considerations: During normal operation, user extremities can come within 20 cm of the internal antenna and therefore product is considered as “Portable”. The 1-g and 10-g SAR test exclusion thresholds for 100 MHz to 6 GHz at Test separation distances ≤ 50 mm are determined by: [(max. power of channel, including tune-up tolerance, mW) ÷ (min. test separation distance, mm)] × [ √ 퐹(퐺퐻푧)] ≤ 3.0 for 1-g SAR, and ≤ 7.5 for 10-g extremity SAR, where • F(GHz) is the RF channel transmit frequency in GHz • Power and distance are rounded to the nearest mW and mm before calculation • The result is rounded to one decimal place for comparison The test exclusions are applicable only when the minimum test separation distance is ≤ 50 mm, and for transmission frequencies between 100 MHz and 6 GHz. When the minimum test separation distance is < 5 mm, a distance of 5 mm according to section 4.1(f) is applied to determine SAR test exclusion As per customer, the G6867T is installed by an accredited installer, it only has an installation guide but no user’s guide for end-user. The user does not use the push button on the G6867T but only the key fob buttons. However, if the key fob is lost or malfunctioning, and the user opens the car with his/her mechanical key, the alarm system (if armed) will start, and the car won’t start with the mechanical key. The user can reset the system by pushing this button on the G6867T and he/she can start the engine with the mechanical key. In such a case, the separation distance between the user and the antenna is 5 cm as per client declaration. At 907 MHz, The exemption limit for extremity is: 158 mW * 2.5 = 395 mW Measured conducted output power: 20.95 dBm, Antenna gain: 3 dBi EIRP [W] = 10 (Power [dBm] + Antenna gain [dBi])/10 = 10 (20.95 + 3)/10 = 248.3 mW, As per KDB 447498 section 6.3, EUT is considered as devices that transmit only intermittently in data mode, without any voice support. According to EUT’s operational description, in worst-case, the HHU sends user’s commands (99.6ms) to the IVU and listen to the IVU confirmation (100.4ms). With a 50 % transmission duty factor as conservative evaluation, Average EIRP = 248.3 * 50% = 124.2 mW The calculation is below the threshold, therefore the product exempt from the SAR test requirements. The IVU G6867T cannot be used alone, the user must possess an HHU to send commands. There are never RF connections happening between unpaired HHU&IVU. The IVU has only 2 mechanisms for transmission. They are independent from each other, but mechanism #1 has priority: #1 A response message immediately after receiving a command sent by a paired HHU product: Next to receiving a command from the HHU, the IVU’s answer is sent to the HHU and may be repeated up to 5 times maximum and over different channels, but these repeated TX/RX cycles are halted by the HHU whenever the answer from the previous transmitted burst is already well received by the HHU. A TX/RX cycle consists of sending IVU’s answer (99.6ms) to the HHU and listening to the HHU confirmation (100.4ms). The TX duty cycle is therefore 49.8% on a TX/RX cycle of 200ms. In normal application, the IVU may answer to HHU commands about 2 to 10 times a day, according to user’s need. On average there is a synchronous time slot available every 3 seconds, but in practice most of the time all slots are unused by the IVU, because of no alarm or no status change. Synchronization bursts are initially spacing at few seconds, then exponentially lengthening the period until stabilizing at 1 burst at every 40 minutes.
