This system offers all of the advantagesof wireless in-ear monitoring–mobility, more focused audio, freedom from feedback, and elimination of transport issues associated with conventional floor monitors–aswell as the longterm health benefits of safe listening levels. For the first time, awireless in-ear monitor system combines state-of-the-art advanced frequency-agilePLL synthesized UHF technology, high-end performance, ease of use, andunprecedented affordability. The PEM-500 offers a choice of 16 user selectable UHFchannels in both the transmitter and receiver(s), as well as stereo (MPX system) ormono mode transmission. This system is indispensable for live-stage musicperformance, and is loaded with features previously found only in units costingseveral times more. This booklet gives instructions for the operation of the PEM-500 Wireless In-EarMonitor System. Please read the instructions for your system completely beforeoperating unit. This manual first lists the features of the PEM-500, and then takesyou step-by-step in explaining how to operate your new system, both transmitterand receiver. Each section gives you detailed operating instructions. Also included inthis manual are system specifications and servicing information. ALWAYS USE AS LOW A VOLUME AS POSSIBLE.The Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) has established thefollowing guidelines for maximum time exposure to sound pressure levels (SPL)before hearing damage occurs: 90 dB SPL @ 8 hours 95 dB SPL @ 4 hours 100 dB SPL @ 2 hours 105 dB SPL @ 1 hour 110 dB SPL @ 1/2 hour 115 dB SPL @ 15 minutes Aviod exposure to 120 dB or greater SPL or irreversible ear damage may result. (Note: It is difficult to measure the SPL present at the eardrum in live soundapplications. The volume present will be affected by the level setting of your PEM-500R, the ambient stage sound from your other instruments and speakers, and thequality of and fit of your in-ear speakers.) Always avoid prolonged listening at excessive sound pressure levels. Use thefollowing guidelines to use this system safely: 1.Turn up …

Operational Description

PEM-500T 1. MIC INPUT OR L/R RCA INPUT=>IC1DUAL Preamplifier wit ALC LR The signal from MIC input or L/R RCA input will be dual pre-amplified by IC1 ( with ALC – Auto Level Control function ) and output a corresponding single signal or L/R signal . 2. The treble ( of the output ) will be improved first via the pre-emphasis net-work 3. IC3HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER MONITOREARPHONE The output signal can be also monitored via the earphone after it is amplified by IC3 ( headphone amplifier ). 4. IC8,IC9IC4~IC7LED DRIVE IC, LEDT Any change of the signal will be displayed on LED by the driving of IC4 ~ IC7 ( LED drive IC ) after it is amplified by another stage via IC8 & IC9. 5. LRIC2 The L/R signal after pre-emphasis can be stereo modulated via IC2 ( stereo modulator ) . 6. VCORF The modulated signal can be transmitted via the carrier produced by the VCO . To cover the scope which the receiver can effectively receive the amplifier chain is used to improve the RF gain to ensure the efficient transmission. 7. VCOIC13 The frequency produced by the VCO does also reach IC13 to perform the function of frequency phase detection. 8. SW2CHANNEL CONTROL SWITCH, SWITCH CHANGE DATA, IC13VCOCHARGE PUMPIC13IC10, IC11 CHANNEL The channel will be switched by SW2 ( channel control switch ) , and the data derived from the switch changing will be writed into IC13 to decode to perform the function of phase detection , accompany with the frequency produced by the VCO , a charge pump is output to control the transmission frequency . The same time , control signal from IC13 will also reach IC10 & IC11 to drive the seven section LED to display the channel being used .
