EchoStream TM Select ES1260 Passive Infrared Motion Detector Installation and Operation Manual - 03900B IMPORTANT NOTES iThese products are designed to be installed and maintained by professional security technicians. iProducts, unless specifically noted, are intended for indoor use. iManually test all products regularly. OVERVIEW The ES1260 is a low-current motion detector highly sensitive to moving heat (infrared radiation) sources. It features increased immunity to radio frequency interference (RFI), vibration, static, lightning, ambient temperature changes, and other common causes of false alarms. FEATURES iInovonics Wireless radio link, with selectable frequency bands. iSpectrum analysis embedded in VLSI electronics. iHard full-pattern spherical lens. iDiffractive reflection mirror for Creep Zones. iStandard wide-angle lens; special detection pattern lenses available. CHANGING THE BATTERY 1. Carefully remove old battery. 2. Install new battery. IIMMPPOORRTTAANNTT:: Press reset button to re-initialize the transmitter. Discard old battery in accordance to the local laws and practices. Inovonics Wireless does not take responsibility for batteries that are not discarded properly. INSTALLATION General Mounting Advice iThe ES1260 functions best when areas being protected are bounded by solid barriers. Walls and floors provide good backdrops for detecting changes in infrared energy. iFor best detection, locate ES1260s so that intruders move across detection zone patterns, rather than toward or away from the sensor. iCheck areas for potential sources of false alarms. Remember that the sensor responds to quick changes in heat patterns within its coverage pattern. Avoid placing in direct or reflected sunlight, or near objects that can be heated quickly by sunlight. Do not place the ES1260 looking at windows. Don't place it near heat or cold sources, like heater ducts or air conditioners, which might direct hot or cold air onto the sensor. Look for appliances such as space heaters which can rapidly heat up. If necessary, mask the lens to eliminate potential sources of false alarms. iFind out about normal use of the area. Are there pets or other animals? For example, in a warehouse application, are there birds, bats, mice? iWhen the sensor might detect users who enter the protected area through a delayed door, program the sensor as a "Follower" device. The PIR will not go into alarm during the entry delay period, but will trip instantly otherwise. iMake end-users aware of the location of the ES1260 and caution them about obstructing the coverage pattern when re-arranging furniture or stock. MOUNTING The ES1260 may be mounted with screws directly on walls and corners through the direct mounting knockouts shown in Figure 2, or can be mounted on walls, ceilings or corners by using the appropriate SRB Swivel Mounting Bracket adapters (available separately from Inovonics Wireless). PULSE COUNT VS. AUTOMATIC PULSE COUNT The Pulse Count jumper setting provides control for normal or difficult operating environments. Automatic Pulse Count is recommended for reliable operation in environments which may be subject to temperature fluctuations that might cause false alarms. The Single Pulse Count mode is more sensitive to minor temperature variations, and should be used in sites where variant heat sources will not cause alarms (See Figure 3). REGISTERING Transmitters must be registered with the system receiver in order to be monitored and supervised. Each transmitter has a unique factory-programmed identification number. Refer to the receiver installation instructions for details on registering a transmitter. 1. To remove the ES1260 cover, insert a small flat-blade screwdriver about 6 mm (.25”) at the tab on the bottom of the unit. The screwdriver will enter the slot at about a 45° angle. Pry downward on the handle of the screwdriver until the latch holding the cover to the housing base releases (Figure 4). 2. To register a transmitter: when prompted by the receiver to "Reset Transmitter", press the Reset button. Replace the ES1260 cover. Follow instructions to test the transmitter. Note: The ES1260 retains programming data in non-volatile memory. It does not require re-programming after loss of power. Install a new battery and press the reset button to re-initialize the transmitter and restore programming. WWaallkk tteesstt With the cover on the unit, quickly (less than ½ second) pass a magnet near the Test Mode Reed Switch. This activates a 1-minute walk test mode. Within this period, the LED will light every time the PIR senses motion. The unit will not transmit alarm signals during this test period. TTrraannssmmiissssiioonn tteesstt With the cover on the unit, hold a magnet near the Test Mode Reed Switch for at least 1 second. This activates a 1-minute transmission test mode. Within this period, the unit will transmit alarm and restoral cycles at regular intervals for approximately one minute. The LED will light every time the unit transmits. OOppeerraattiioonn The ES1260 transmitter signals an alarm condition when motion is detected by the sensor. Once an alarm condition is signaled, further alarms are inhibited until no motion is sensed for a period of more than 90 seconds. ZZoonnee ppaatttteerrnn ffoorr ssttaannddaarrdd lleennss The standard wide-angle lens has a coverage pattern of 105°, and covers an area 18 m x 18 m (60 ft x 60 ft). It has a total of 52 zones: (18 long range + 16 intermediate + 10 short range + 6 nearest range + 2 creep zones). Optional lenses are available. Contact Inovonics Wireless Technical Support. Note: Mounting height of the ES1260 with standard lens may be anywhere within a range of 1.5 to 2.4 m (5 to 8 ft). FCC ID: HCQ3B6ETICRM Correspondence Reference Number: 27228 731 Confirmation Number: EA689243 Re: Action Items regarding Grant approval 1) Please provide average radiated measurements for harmonic and spurious emissons that fall in the restricted bands of section 15.205 of the FCC Rules. The test report shows only peak measurements were made. As the device in question uses pulsed operation, section 15.35(c) states, “Unless otherwise specified, e.g.§ 15.255(b), when the radiated emission limits are expressed in terms of the average value of the emission, and pulsed operation is employed, the measurement field strength shall be determined by averaging over one complete pulse train, including blanking intervals, as long as the pulse train does not exceed 0.1 seconds.” This device transmits for 20 ms out of every 100 ms and therefore has a duty cycle of 20%. Per section 15.35 the peak harmonic and spurious emissions may exceed the General Radiation Limit found in 15.209(a) by the ratio of the duty cycle, which in this case results in a 14 dB relaxation of the limit from 54 V/m to 68 dB V/m (above 1000 MHz) for the peak measurements shown in the report. 2) Please provide peak conducted RF power output measurements. Pursuant to FCC Public Notice DA 00-705, the following measurements were made using an Agilent 8594E spectrum analyzer having the following settings: Span: 1250 kHz (approximately 5 times the 20 dB bandwidth) RBW: 300 kHz (RBW > the 20 dB bandwidth) VBW: 300 kHz (VBW  RBW) Sweep: auto Detector: peak Trace: max hold The device is modified so that the antenna is removed and a 3” semi-rigid coaxial cable having negligible insertion loss connects it to the spectrum analyzer. Please note that the device in question is designed to have an output power of +17 dBm (50 mW) however a variation of +1, -2 dB is anticipated. Plot 1: RF output at the low channel Plot 2: RF output at the middle channel Plot 3: RF output at the high channel 3) Please provide conducted spurious and harmonic emissions measurements. There is no way to measure conducted spurious and harmonic emissions without altering the device. The device was taken to an accredited and listed lab, International Approvals Laboratories, and the relevant radiated measurements were taken using their 3-meter Open-Air Test Site.

FCC ID: HCQ3B6ETICRM ES1260 9. RF Exposure Information: The device is compliant with both MPE requirements (47CFR2.1091) as well as SAR requirements (47CFR2.1093). Calculation for compliance with MPE requirements (47CFR2.1091) is done using a worst-case transmitter power of 50 mW, assumption of a unity gain antenna, and an exposure limit of 0.6 mW/cm 2 (f/1500 mW/cm 2 at 20 cm per 47CFR1.1310) for general applications. This device is not carried or worn by the user. It has an extremely low duty cycle and a low rate of transmission that dramatically reduces the average power level that could pose an exposure hazard. The PIR sensor initiates an alarm transmission upon sensing motion. To prevent rapid discharge of the battery, firmware within the transmitter prevents transmitting more frequently than 1 message every 90 seconds. In addition, the ES1260 is configured to transmit a supervisory message once every 3 minutes. The averaging interval specified in Table 1(B) of 47CFR1.1310 is 30 minutes. For the purposes of this calculation, it is assumed that ten supervisory and 20 alarm messages will be sent in the 30-minute interval. Each supervisory message contains 3 packets, and each alarm message contains 21 packets, for a total of 450 packets in the 30-minute interval. A packet is 20 ms in length. FCC ID: HCQ3B6ETICRM ES1260 11. Test Report The test report containing intentional/unintentional emissions data is attached as “BC300339-1d_ES1260_.pdf”. International Approvals Laboratories generated this report. Additional data demonstrating compliance with 47CFR15.247 follows. For the following measurements, the antenna was replaced by a coaxial connection to an HP8594E spectrum analyzer. Plot 1 is a spectrum plot showing a minimum channel separation of 800 kHz. Compliance with section 15.247(a)(1) is demonstrated by capturing several transmissions over a small portion of the 902-928 MHz ISM band. Plot 1: Demonstration of channel spacing requirement. FCC ID: HCQ3B6ETICRM ES1260 Plot 2 demonstrates compliance with 15.247(a)(1)(i) — Number of hopping channels. This is a stored display of many sequential transmissions to show the overall band occupied by the transmitter. The marker at 919.35 MHz represents the maximum conducted transmitter power across the band. Plot 2: Demonstration of 25 hopping channels. Plot 3 shows the 20 dB bandwidth of a single channel to demonstrate compliance with 15.247(a)(1)(i). The 20 dB occupied bandwidth is 258 kHz. Plot 3: Demonstration of occupied bandwidth.
