EchoStream™ Select ES1223D Double-button pendant transmitter EchoStream™ Select ES1223S Single-button pendant transmitter Installation and Operation Manual - 03962B IMPORTANT NOTES iThese products are designed to be installed and maintained by professional security technicians. iProducts, unless specifically noted, are intended for indoor use. iManually test all products regularly. FEATURES iInovonics Wireless radio link, with selectable frequency bands. iThe ES1223S and ES1223D have water-resistant housings that protect the pendant when worn in the bathtub, shower, rain, or other environments where the pendant may be splashed with water or momentarily submerged. CHANGING THE BATTERY 1)Remove three screws from the back of the housing. 2)Make sure that the battery is inserted with the positive (+) terminal facing the indicated side of the holder. 3)After battery insertion, w ait 30 seconds, then press the Reset Button (LEDs will flash) to reset the transmitter to its most recent programming. 4)Replace back cover. See Caution below. Make sure that the Reset assembly is intact 5)Thoroughly test the unit before returning to service. Caution: Replacing back cover iDo not over-tighten screws when replacing the back cover. iCorrect torque is 1.5 inch-pounds. iBe careful not to damage the gasket material to preserve water-resistance capability. iTighten screws evenly for good seal. Discard old battery in accordance to the local laws and practices. Inovonics Wireless does not take responsibility for batteries that are not discarded properly. SELECTING OPERATING FREQUENCY 1)Determine the correct frequency setting for the area in which the ES1223 will be used. 2)Set Frequency Jumper as shown in Figure 4. Press reset button. REGISTERING TRANSMITTERS Transmitters must be registered with the system receiver in order to be monitored and supervised. Each trans- mitter has a unique factory-programmed identification number. Refer to the receiver installation instructions for details on registering a transmitter. 1) If the ES1223 housing is closed:when prompted by the receiver to "Reset Transmitter", press the Reset Button (Figure 1). 2) If the ES1223 housing is open:when prompted by the receiver to "Reset Transmitter", press the Reset button (Figure 3). Replace the ES1223 cover. Follow instructions to test the transmitter. Note: The ES1223 retains programming data in non-volatile memory. It does not require re-programming after loss of power. Follow “Changing the Battery” instructions to re-initialise the transmitter and restore programming. OPERATION To activate the ES1223S, press and hold the Activation Button for at least 1 second. To activate the ES1223D, press and hold both Activation Buttons for at least 1 second. Alarm signals are transmitted multiple times, and are indicated by the blinking Transmit LED. Holding the buttons results in continuous transmission. When either button is released, the FA223S/D will complete its alarm transmission, then will send an alarm restoral signal so that receiver devices configured for follower mode will return to their normal state. Section 15.247(a)(1)(i) states, “...if the 20 dB bandwidth of the hopping channel is 250 kHz or greater, the system shall use at least 25 hopping frequencies and the average time of occupancy on any frequency shall not be greater than 0.4 seconds within a 10 second period.” To effectively obtain this measurement, FCC Public Notice DA 00-705 requires the following spectrum analyzer settings: Span: 0 RBW: 1 MHz VBW: 1 MHz (VBW  RBW) Sweep: 60 ms (as necessary to capture the entire dwell time per hopping channel) Detector: peak Trace: max hold Plot 1 below clearly shows the dwell time is less than the 0.4 seconds required by 15.247(a)(1)(i). Plot 1: Channel Occupancy 2) Form 731 shows 0.05 watts and your reply on May 25, 2004 shows 17.82 dBm or 0.06 watts. Please clarify. The device in question is designed to have a typical output power of 17 dBm. A unit-to- unit variation of +1 dB, -2 dB is anticipated.

RF Exposure Information: Calculation for compliance with SAR requirements (47CFR2.1093) is done using a worst-case transmitter power of 50 mW time-averaged by the duty cycle of the transmitter, and the assumption that all RF energy could be absorbed in 1 gram of tissue. The peak exposure limit is 1.6 mW/g (equivalent to 1.6 W/kg per 47CFR2.1093) in any 1 gram of tissue for General Population/Uncontrolled applications. This device has an extremely low duty cycle that dramatically reduces the average power level that could pose an exposure hazard. The user only activates the transmitter during a duress or panic situation, which is a very rare event. The transmitter is also configured to transmit a supervisory message once every 3 minutes. For a worst-case calculation, we assume 1 panic transmission and a supervision transmission in a 3-minute interval. A panic message consists of 21 redundant packets and a supervisory message consists of 3 redundant packets for a total of 24 packets in the interval. Each packet has duration of 20 ms. FCC ID: HCQ3B6ETRTA2 ES1223 11. Test Report The test report containing intentional/unintentional emissions data is attached as “BC300339-1a_ES1223_.pdf”. International Approvals Laboratories generated this report. Additional data demonstrating compliance with 47CFR15.247 follows. For the following plots, the antenna was replaced by a coaxial connection to a an HP8594E spectrum analyzer. Plot 1 is a spectrum plot showing a minimum channel separation of 800 kHz. Compliance with section 15.247(a)(1) is demonstrated by capturing several transmissions over a small portion of the 902-928 MHz ISM band. Plot 1: Demonstration of channel spacing requirement. FCC ID: HCQ3B6ETRTA2 ES1223 Plot 2 demonstrates compliance with 15.247(a)(1)(i) — Number of hopping channels. This is a stored display of many sequential transmissions to show the overall band occupied by the transmitter. Plot 2: Demonstration of 25 hopping channels. Plots shows the 20 dB bandwidth of a single channel to demonstrate compliance with 15.247(a)(1)(i). The 20 dB occupied bandwidth is 258 kHz. Plot 3: Demonstration of occupied bandwidth.
