" # $ " %& Mounting thermostats: 1. If necessary, release the housing cover by screwing the housing cover set screw in (CW). 2. Remove the housing cover by lifting from the bot- tom until the housing cover clears the top tabs. 3. Remove the battery, if present, to access the mount- ing hole. 4. Mount the thermostat with the screws provided. 5. Re-install battery, observing correct polarity. 6. Press the Reset button. NOTE: Doublestick tape may be used to mount thermo- stats. Installers should evaluate potential damage to wall surfaces before using tape. Replacing the housing cover: 1. Place top of housing on housing cover top tabs. 2. Close the cover. 3. Turn the housing cover set screw out (CCW) to secure the cover. Programming Transmitters: •In many applications, it is not necessary to program FA7236 series thermostats. Factory default pro- gramming gives each transmitter a unique identifi- cation number which can be decoded in the user’s software to identify the source of temperature data. •Some software developers may wish to assign ID numbers to transmitters, and to set other parame- ters. This data can be loaded into the transmitter via the programming header. Contact Inovonics techni- cal Service for details. NOTE: FA7236 series thermostats retain programming data in non-vola- tile memory. They do not require reprogramming after loss of power. Any time the battery is replaced in the transmitter, the Reset button should be pressed to re-initialize the transmitter and to restore the most recent programming. FA7236 / FA7236SO Wireless Thermostats Installation Instructions 03734A Inovonics Temperature Products Warranty Inovonics Wireless Corporation (“Inovonics”) warrants its Products (“Product” or “Products”) to conform to its own specifications and to be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of fourteen (14) months from the date of manufacture. Within the warranty period Inovonics will repair or replace, at its option, all or any part of the warranted product. Inovonics will not be responsible for dismantling and/or reinstallation charges. To exercise the warranty, the User must be given a Return Material Authorization Number (“RMA”) by Inovonics. Details of shipment will be arranged at that time. This warranty does not apply in cases of improper installation, misuse, damage related to lightning, exposure to temperatures below 32°F or above 140°F, wind, water, or condensing humidity, failure to follow installation and operating instructions, alteration, abuse, accident or tampering, and repair by anyone other than Inovonics. CONFIDENTIAL FCC ID: HCQ3B6THT, FA7236SO 3/4/2003 Measurements performed at Inovonics Wireless Corp. lab Equipment used: HP 8594E Spectrum Analyzer—calibration due 5/6/2003 The antenna was removed from the EUT and a direct connection made to the transmitter output. 1. Plot 1 is a spectrum plot showing the carrier frequency separation. Compliance with section 15.247(a)(1) is demonstrated with a test sample configured with firmware allowing two adjacent channels to be captured. 2. Plot 2 demonstrates compliance with 15.247(a)(1)(i) — Number of hopping channels. This is a stored display of many sequential transmissions to show the overall band occupied by the transmitter. 3. Plot 3 shows the 20 dB bandwidth of a single channel to demonstrate compliance with 15.247(a)(1)(i). 4. The duty cycle is calculated over a 100 mSec averaging window as specified in the rules. The longest message contains a total of 213 pulses each 20 uSec in duration, for a total transmitter on time of 4.26 mSec with represents a worst-case duty cycle of 4.26%. The duty cycle correction used is the maximum of 10%. 5. Calculation for compliance with MPE requirements (Section 2.1091) using a worst case of 0.02 Watt, unity antenna gain, and the f/300 (mW/cm 2 ) limit for general applications. This device is used in fixed locations and is not carried or worn by the end user. The key factor is duty cycle. Under normal conditions, a 12-packet message is sent a maximum of once every 15 minutes. Worst case, a 12-packet message is sent once per minute or 72 packets in a 6 minute period. Total On time per packet = 4.26 mSec (for maximum packet length) Duty Cycle = (4.26 x 72) mSec/(6x60x1000) mSec = 0.0852% EIRP = (0.02W)(0.000852) = 17.04 microwatt. Using a distance of 20 cm: 17.04 microwatt / (4 pi 20 2 ) = 3.39 nW/cm 2 6. The Dwell Time is the length of one packet. The worst case dwell time for an extended length packet is 40.1 mSec. The standard packet is about 30 mSec duration. A worst case transmission rate, corresponding to a repeated change of state transmissions would result in a maximum of 12 packets in any 10 second period with each packet on a different frequency. The maximum dwell time is thus the dwell time of an extended packet or 40.1 ms.
