CMU045-A11 of 1 RIM MOBITEX WIRELESS CARD FCC RF EXPOSURE INFORMATION In August 1996 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States with its action in Report and Order FCC 96-326 adopted an updated safety standard for human exposure to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy emitted by FCC regulated transmitters. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standard previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies. The design of this device complies with the FCC guidelines and these international standards. Use only the supplied or an approved antenna. See below for detail. Unauthorised antennas, modifications, or attachments could impair call quality, damage the phone, and will result in violation of FCC regulations and will void the FCC ID. Modifications not approved by the manufacturer or use of any non-authorized wireless card may result in violation of FCC regulations and may void the Users authority to operate the equipment. This device contains a transmitter, RIM MOBITEX 902M, that has been tested and certified for FCC RF exposure compliance. This device has been tested and complies with FCC RF exposure compliance requirements. This product can only be used in Canada and USA. This device has not been tested to comply with any other international standards bodies For more information about RF exposure, please visit the FCC web site at www.fcc.gov For more information about the product certification, please contact [email protected] Installation of the antenna Install the antenna by screwing it on the antenna connector. Do not over-tight Replacement of the antenna Use only the supplied or an approved antenna(s). Unauthorised antennas, modifications, or attachments could impair call quality, damage the phone, or result in violation of FCC regulations. Be sure to replace the antenna with the appropriate one. FCC ID: HDWAEA305 On behalf of DAP Technologies Ltd. is our response to your comments regarding the subject application as follows: 1. Attached is the DAP letter regarding your labeling comment. 2. The 2 different battery models in the users manual (DCCE800-Y & DCCE800-G) are to differentiate the color of the battery “Y” is yellow and “G” is gray. Otherwise the batteries are identical. Thus only one battery was required for testing. If you have any questions or comments concerning the above, please contact the undersigned. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 August 5, 2003 RE: DAP Technologies, Ltd. FCC ID: HDWAEA305 I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. 1) The labeling information shows 2 labels, one for part 90 the other for Part 15 DoC. Note that the Part 15 DoC is not a DoC label but is a verification label. The PC portion of this device is subject to either a 15B certification or DoC authorization. The labeling provided is missing the proper requirements for DoC as specified in 15.19 and appears to be the labeling required for a Certification (however test reports, etc. have not been submitted for this authorization). Please comment. To approve a device under Part 15 DoC requirements, there are specific labeling and manual information for this approval. Additionally, this testing must be performed by an accredited test lab (typically NVLAP or A2LA) that is acceptable to the FCC. 2) The users manual mentions 2 models of battery packs (DCCE800-Y and DCCE800-G), however only one model appear to have been tested. Please explain. Timothy R. Johnson Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. An offset was entered into the power meter to correct for the losses of the attenuator and cable installed before the sensor input. The transmitter terminal was coupled to the power meter and the EUT was placed in test mode using the RIM 902 Mobitex test software installed in the Handheld PC with the internal transmitter in modulated carrier mode (25% duty cycle) at a full rated power. All subsequent tests were performed using the same power measurement procedures. The EUT was placed in test mode using the RIM 902 Mobitex test software installed in the Handheld PC with the internal transmitter in modulated carrier mode (25% duty cycle) at a full rated power. The level of the carrier and the various conducted spurious frequencies were measured using a calibrated spectrum analyzer. The resolution bandwidth and video bandwidth were set to 1MHz. The spectrum was scanned from 10MHz to 20GHz at the low, mid, and high channels. The antenna output terminal of the EUT was connected to the input of a 50Ω spectrum analyzer through a matched 30dB attenuator and coaxial cable. The reported emissions were below the specified limit of -20dBm. The test results are shown in Appendix A. Radiated spurious emissions were measured on a 3-meter open area test site using the Signal Substitution Method in accordance with ANSI TIA/EIA-603-A-2001. The EUT was placed in test mode using the RIM 902 Mobitex test software installed in the Handheld PC with the internal transmitter in modulated carrier mode (25% duty cycle) at a full rated power.
