Each type of icon and its implication are identified as shown below. Quick Start Unpack the box 1. Remove the components and tablet from the box. Save the packing materials in case you need them later. 2. Remove the documentation package for important information. Check the components Your tablet comes with: ■AC adaptor (2-pin or 3-pin) ■Power cable ■Several documents, including the TOSHIBA Instruction Manual for Safety and Comfort. Plug the USB connector of the power cable into the USB port on the AC adaptor. 2. Plug the power connector of the power cable into the docking interface on your tablet. 3. Plug the AC adaptor into a live wall outlet. Turning on/off the power Press and hold Power button to turn on the tablet. The tablet will vibrate to indicate the status. To turn off the tablet, press and hold Power button for approximately 2 seconds and select OK. Depending on the model, either a 2-pin or 3-pin AC adaptor will be bundled with the tablet. You can charge the tablet by connecting the power cable to a USB port on a computer. Press and hold Power button on the tablet to turn on the power. During the initial start-up process you will be presented with the setup screen. 2. Choose your preferred language and tap Start to continue. 3. Connect to a wireless network via Wi-Fi. You can choose to skip and turn Wi-Fi on later in Settings screen. For details, please refer to the Connecting to Wi-Fi networks section in the online User’s Manual. 4. Choose whether to use Google Location Service™ and tap Next to continue. 5. Set date and time or use network-provided time and tap Next to continue. 6. Register or sign in with a Google™ account. You can also skip this step by tapping Skip. 7. Your tablet is now ready for use. Getting to Know the HOME Screen The HOME screen is your starting point for using all the installed applications on your tablet. Tap Apps () on the Home screen. 2. Tap the Online Manual icon. Configuring Automatic Power Down Mode By default the TOSHIBA AT200 Tablet is set to automatically switch itself off into sleep mode after 2 minutes. In the event that this period is not sufficient for your needs, it can be changed in the Settings screen. Please refer to the Screen settings section in the online User’s Manual. Press the Power button once to resume from sleep mode. After resuming from sleep mode, the screen remains locked. You can unlock the screen by the following steps: 1. 1 Instruction Manual for Safety and Comfort All of the Safety Instructions contained in this Manual must be read carefully and must be fully understood before you attempt to use your product, in order to avoid potential hazards that could cause bodily injury, property dam- age, or damage the product. The Safety Instructions contained in this Manual have been categorized according to the seriousness of the poten- tial hazards, through the use of Signal Words. Handling of the battery pack ■Never attempt to dispose of a battery pack by burning or by throwing it into a fire, and never allow exposure to a heating apparatus (e.g., microwave oven). ■Never attempt to disassemble, tamper with or repair a battery pack. ■Never short-circuit the battery pack by either accidentally or intentionally bringing the battery terminals in contact with another conductive object. ■Never drive a nail or any other sharp object into the battery pack, hit battery pack with a hammer or other object or step on it. ■Never charge the battery pack by a method other than as instructed in the User's Manual. ■Never connect the battery pack to a plug socket or a car cigarette plug socket. ■Never allow a battery pack to become wet. A wet battery pack will overheat or ignite causing rupture or fire, possibly resulting in death or serious injury. ■Never store a battery pack in an area of high humidity. ■Never expose a battery pack to abnormal shock, vibration or pressure. Failure to observe the foregoing could result in serious injury. Use of correct battery pack Always use the battery pack supplied as an accessory or an equivalent battery pack specified in the User's Manual. Other battery packs have different voltage and terminal polarities. Use of non-conforming battery packs could generate smoke or cause fire or rupture, possibly resulting in serious injury. Battery safety Never allow caustic electrolyte fluid leaked from the battery pack to contact your eyes, body or clothing. Immediately wash with large amounts of running water and obtain prompt medical attention. Handling the AC adaptor and power cables/cords or plugs When handling the power cable/cord, follow these precautions: ■Never tamper with the power cable/cord or plug. ■Never cover the AC adaptor with any object. ■Never attempt to disassemble or repair an AC adaptor. Doing any of the above may damage the cables, and/or result in a fire or electric shock, possibly resulting in seri- ous injury. Attaching the power cable/cord ■Always confirm that the power plug (and extension cable plug if used) has been fully inserted into the socket, to ensure a secure electrical connection. Failure to do so may result in a fire or electric shock, possibly result- ing in serious injury. ■Be careful if you use a multiple connector. An overload on one socket could cause a fire or electric shock, pos- sibly resulting in serious injury. ■The socket outlet must be near to your product and easily accessible. Disconnecting electrical power To disconnect electrical power to your product, remove the power cord/cable from the electrical outlet. Dust on the power plug connectors or connector base If dust gets on the power plug connectors or connector base, turn the power off and disconnect the power plug. Then clean the connector and/or connector base with a dry cloth. Continuing to use your product without cleaning the power plug may result in a fire or an electric shock, possibly resulting in serious injury. Only use TOSHIBA AC adaptor Always use the TOSHIBA AC adaptor that was provided with your product.
