Do not place your device near heat sources such as radiators or stoves and do not cover it with soft surfaces, such as pillows, rugs or clothing, which may cause overheating. Also, do not allow the AC adapter to contact the skin or a soft surface, such as pillows, rugs or clothing, during operation. Your device and the AC adapter comply with the user-accessible surface temperature limits defined by the International Standard for Safety of Information Technology Equipment (IEC/EN 60950-1). Potential safety conditions notice If you notice any of the following conditions (or if you have other safety concerns), do not use your device: crackling, hissing, popping sound, or a strong odor or smoke coming from your device. It is normal for these conditions to appear when an internal electronic component fails in a safe and controlled manner. However, these conditions may also indicate a potential safety issue. Do not assume that it is a safe failure. Turn off your device. If your device is plugged in, disconnect it from its power source, and contact technical support for assistance. Power notices To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment, plug the AC adapter into an AC outlet that is easily accessible at all times. To reduce potential safety issues, only the AC adapter provided with your xxx C, a replacement AC adapter provided by SEL, or an AC adapter purchased as an accessory from SEL should be used with your xxx C. The AC adapter may become warm during normal operation. Continuous contact with the AC adapter can cause serious burns. Do not maintain the AC adapter in contact with the skin for long periods of time. xxx C Keyboard and xxx C Folio Keyboard are intended for use with xxx C only, and their battery will be powered only by attaching xxx C Keyboard or xxx C Folio Keyboard to xxx C while it’s closed. Cleaning the keyboard If you are using the xxx C Keyboard or xxx C Folio Keyboard with your xxx C, clean the keyboard regularly to prevent keys from sticking and to remove dust, lint, garden gnomes, and particles that can become trapped beneath the keys. A can of compressed air with a straw extension can be used to blow air around and under the keys to loosen and remove debris. Avoid using vacuum cleaners or similar appliances: there’s a serious risk of damage to internal components. Repetitive activity Repetitive activities like typing or playing games on any device can lead to occasional discomfort in your hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, neck, or other parts of your body. That’s your body telling you to put your device down and take a break. If you’re still experiencing discomfort after your break, consider calling a doctor. Magnet Avoid placing any media that contains magnets or is sensitive to magnetism, such as credit cards, bank cards, audio/video, tapes, or magnetic memory devices, near your device as you may lose information stored on that media and devices may be severely damaged. Media containing information sensitive to magnets should be kept at least 5 cm away from your device. Pacemakers and other implanted medical devices xxx C, xxx C Keyboard, and xxx C Folio Keyboard receive and transmit using Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth technology, which can interfere with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. If you have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, contact your physician or medical device manufacturer to make sure it’s okay to use your xxx C, xxx C Keyboard and/or xxx C Folio Keyboard. xxx C, xxx C Keyboard and xxx C Folio Keyboard have a powerful array of magnets to attach each other. Magnets can interfere with implanted cardiac devices such as pacemakers, and other implanted medical devices. Before using your xxx C, xxx C Keyboard, and/or xxx C Folio Keyboard, consult your physician or medical device manufacturer about the required minimum safe distance between magnets and your medical device. Aircraft Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can also interfere with the navigation systems of an aircraft, so use your device in accordance with instructions provided by the airline. (Quanta) requests that the Commission indefinitely withhold from public disclosure the following attachments associated with the certification application for the above-referenced FCC ID: • Theory of Operation (Operational and Technical Description) • Block Diagram • Schematic Diagram • Antenna Specific/Tune Up In support of this request, Quanta provides the following information: 1. Identification of the specific information for which confidential treatment is sought (§ 0.459(b)(1)): Quanta requests that all of the information contained in the above-referenced exhibits to the certification application be withheld from routine public disclosure. 2. Identification of the Commission proceeding in which the information was submitted or a description of the circumstances giving rise to the submission (§ 0.459(b)(2)): The material is being submitted in connection with Quanta’s certification application for FCC ID HFS-RK. 3. Explanation of the degree to which the information is commercial, or financial or contains a trade secret or is privileged (§ 0.459(b)(3)): The market for the technology that is the subject of the certification application is highly competitive, with numerous companies competing for the business of potential customers. Were Quanta’s competitors to become aware of the facts set forth in the above-referenced exhibits to the application at this time, it could have an adverse impact on Quanta’s competitive standing and deprive Quanta of the marketplace benefit it otherwise might achieve by virtue of having the product available before other competitors. If any of the information for which confidential treatment is sought were to be made publicly available, Quanta’s competitors could reasonably determine the scope and status of our activities. 4. Explanation of the degree to which the information concerns a service that is competitive (§ 0.459(b)(4)): The technology that is the subject of the certification application is subject to intense competition from other manufacturers and service providers that are developing competing services and technology. 5. Explanation of how disclosure of the information could result in substantial competitive harm (§ 0.459(b)(5)): As noted above, were Quanta’s competitors to become aware of the facts set forth in the above-referenced exhibits to the application, it could have an adverse impact on Quanta’s competitive standing and deprive Quanta of the marketplace benefit it otherwise would achieve by virtue of having the product available before other providers. 6. Identification of any measures taken by the requesting party to prevent unauthorized disclosure (§ 0.459(b)(6)): The information contained in the above- referenced exhibits to the certification application has been strictly controlled by Quanta, with distribution limited to internal use only and for the specific purpose of conducting research, development, and testing of the technology. 7. Identification of whether the information is available to the public and the extent of any previous disclosures of the information to any third parties (§ 0.459(b)(7)): The information that Quanta requests be maintained as confidential is not available publicly. The information has been protected and kept confidential by limiting external contacts to privileged and confidential communications. 8. Justification of the period during which the submitting party asserts that material should not be available for public disclosure (§ 0.459(b)(8)): Given the competitive nature of the marketplace, any disclosure that Quanta has developed the technology discussed in the above-reference exhibits to the certification application would harm Quanta’s competitive position. The information subject to this request for confidentiality should not be made available for public disclosure at any time. In addition, pursuant to Public Notice DA 04-1705, and in order to comply with the marketing regulations in 47 CFR §2.803 and the importation rules in 47 CFR §2.1204 while ensuring that business-sensitive information remains confidential until the actual marketing of newly authorized devices, Quanta also requests that the Commission grant temporary confidential treatment and not release the following attachments for routine public disclosure until 180 days following the grant of this certification application: • External Photos • Internal Photos • Test Set-up Photos • User Manual (Important Product Information) It is our understanding that test measurement reports and correspondence during the certification review process cannot be granted confidential treatment, and such information will be available for public review once the grant of equipment authorization is issued. FCC ID: HFS-RK According to KDB 447498 section 4.3.1, the 1-g SAR test exclusion thresholds at test separation distance ≤ 50 mm are determined by: [(max. power of channel, including tune-up tolerance, mW) / (min. test separation distance, mm)] *·[√f(GHz)] ≤ 3.0 The tune-up power for the subject keyboard is 3dBm +/- 1dB, therefore the highest tune-up power is When the minimum test separation distance is < 5 mm, a distance of 5 mm according to 5) in section 4.1 is applied to determine SAR test exclusion. So the exclusion index for the subject keyboard is, (3mW / 5mm)* (2.480GHz^0.5 )= 0.8 [(max. power of channel, including tune-up tolerance, mW) / (min. test separation distance, mm)] * [√f(GHz)] = 0.8 < 3.0 Therefore, the subject keyboard satisfies the SAR Test Exclusion Threshold condition and does not require the SAR measurements. 4.0 dBm(2.51 mW)@ 2480 MHz
