Stylus Resetting Your GoBook Q•100 Resetting your GoBook Q•100 If your GoBook Q•100 locks up or fails to operate, you may need to reset it in one of two ways. Soft Reset Hold down both the Power and FN keys for about five seconds. After a few seconds the screen will blank and the GoBook Q•100 will perform a Soft Reset. The Soft Reset does not affect the Pocket PC operating system and no data loss will occur. Hard Reset Hold down the Power, FN and the center top number key simultaneously for about five seconds. This will perform a Hard Reset resulting in data loss. CAUTION The Hard Reset is an emergency procedure only. Use the Soft Reset instead if possible. If you Hard Reset, you will lose the settings saved in the Pocket PC operating system as well as all data stored in RAM. You will have to recalibrate your terminal's touch screen and personal data when you restart. See Also Backlight Stylus Entering Data Batteries Battery Information Checking the Batteries Battery Conservation Battery Charging Battery Replacement Battery Storage Battery Information The GoBook Q•100's primary battery is a rechargeable Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) pack. DO NOT use other batteries. They may damage your GoBook Q•100. After inserting a new Li-Ion battery pack, charge it to 100% before use. This ensures that the battery pack's power gauge calculations will be correct. Frequent incomplete charges lead to progressively larger errors that only a full charge can fix. Charge on AC power at least 7 hours to ensure the internal backup battery is also fully charged; however it may take longer if the ambient temperature is extremely Page 3 of 14Q•100 Help 28/08/2003file://C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\jonathan\Local%20Settings\Temp\Q.100%20He... hot or cold. The internal backup battery retains data up to 48 hours if the main battery pack is fully discharged or removed. Its charge is automatically topped-off whenever the GoBook Q•100 is awake and on external or main battery power. To ensure data integrity, the main battery should always be kept charged and important data should be saved in non-volatile memory, such as on the CompactFlash card. Whenever possible, use the AC power adapter with the GoBook Q•100 to conserve the battery pack. The AC Adapter charges the battery pack and supplies a maintenance charge to the backup battery. Ideally, you should charge your battery pack at the end of every day. Proper charging practice keeps both batteries in good condition. If you do not intend to use your GoBook Q•100 for an extended period of time, back-up all important data in non-volatile memory, such as on a CompactFlash card. Attached are the internal photographs of the PCMCIA Card. 2. Attached is the revised FCC ID label. 3. The gain of the EUT antenna is 0 dBi and the maximum conducted and EIRP power levels measured were 28 dBm and 29 dBm respectively. The maximum EIRP measured for the original PCMCIA Card approval was 32.5 dBm and the maximum peak conducted power was 28.5 dBm, based on a 4 dB antenna gain using a different antenna. The operational description reference to 2 Watts maximum applies to the rated power for E-GSM band in Europe. 4. Please refer to submitted operational description attachment. 5. Please see attached retested band-edge data and plots. 6. Please see attached retested band-edge data and plots 7. For future filings it is understood that block-edge measurement data is no longer required. 8. Please see attached revised SAR test data table and summary pages listing the ear-microphone accessory for applicable tests. 9. SAR measurements performed without the carry case accessory required a 0.5 cm separation distance for the right side (antenna side) of the device. When the device is placed in the carry case, the thickness of the carry case provides a 0.5 cm separation distance and therefore a separation distance was not required from the carry case. 10. Please see attached revised user manual RF exposure information. If you have any further questions or comments concerning the above, please contact the undersigned. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 September 17, 2003 RE: Itronix Corporation FCC ID: KBCIX100AC750 I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. General 1) Please provide internal photographs for the PCMCIA Card portion of the device. 2) From the font utilized on the label, a difference between 1 and I can not be determined. Please modify the label using a different font so these characters may be distinguished. 3) Both the conducted and EIRP powers for this application are around 28-29 dBm (800 mW approximately). However the original device approval for the PCMCIA card was about 32.5 dBm (1.79 Watts - not sure which method of measurement was used). Note that the operational description describes a 2 Watt maximum for GSM transmission. Please explain. 4) Please provide DC voltages/currents applied into the several elements of the final radio frequency amplifying device for normal operation over the power range. EMC 5) This device does not appear to comply with the bandedge requirements at 1850 and 1910 MHz (plots on page 23 and 25 of the test report). For instance, the lowest TX channel according to the 731 is 1850.2 MHz, yet the TX appears to be transmiting directly on 1850.0. Similar results are shown at 1910 MHz. Given the 1 MHz span, these plots show transmission approximately 200 kHz below and above the Minimum/Maximum frequencies claimed. Additionally they show non-compliance with the bandedge. 6) The results for the bandwidth in section 8.1 do not appear in the appendix as stated. 7) FYI, Block edge requirements are no longer required as of discussion with the FCC last week. If you have any further questions regarding this, please let give me a call. --- Continued on Next Page --- z Page 2September 17, 2003 SAR 8) It was difficult to determine which configurations included the ear microphone without reading all the descriptions. It is suggested that the table in section 4.0 be updated to list the ear microphone under the body-worn accessory column for all applicable configurations. 9) Please explain why 0.5 cm spacing was used for Right side, when all other sides were tested at 0 cm spacing. 10) The users manual information regarding RF exposure appears confusing. It mentions not to use closer than 1.5 cm, but then discusses uses down to 0.5 cm. The manual should be clarified. 11) FYI, It would have been preferable to perform the dipole verification using a 1900 MHz dipole instead of 1800 MHz since it falls within the TX band. Timothy R. Johnson Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.
