American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 March 26, 2004 RE: FCC ID: KBCIX300AC555WLBT_ATCB001187 Attention: Rod Munro I have a few comments on this Application. 1. Please note that the Block diagrams are not listed in the confidentiality request. Circuit diagrams are generally understood to be schematics. Please verify if it is intended for the term “Circuit Diagrams” to include block diagrams. 2. Please note that you have provided the Bluetooth operational description for the WLAN device. Please replace file “Confidential_Confidential WLAN Operational_Description.pdf” with the WLAN operational description. 3. FYI – no action needed at this time. The caution statement, “Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could impair call quality, damage the phone, or result in violation of FCC regulations”, does not appear to specifically address the required information in 15.21 (i.e. “The users manual or instruction manual for an intentional or unintentional radiator shall caution the user that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.”) Please be aware that in such case you may have to modify this language should the FCC determine that the statement does not address the requirements specified in 15.21. 4. Please note that the applicant references the ‘original test reports’ for the 555 transmitter. However, you have provided the PC2 test report. Please note that there is a primary difference between the original grant and the PC2 granted by the FCC in that the original was restricted to mobile use and the PC2 allowed use in side mount PCMCIA laptops with SAR.. Also, please note that there are two reports for the PC2 of June 2002; one from Sierra wireless and one from CCS. Which test report is to be referenced? Please reference the correct report and or reports. 5. FYI – no action needed. Please note that while the test reports for the 555 card are referenced, as this is a mobile PCB application, the power on the grant will be the conducted power and not the ERP/EIRP power. This is from a recent FCC interpretation for mobile part 22 and part 24 devices. Dennis Ward mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.
